Hot at this price,

Normally £199

Although people do tend to vote refurbs cold for some reason.

Bought one of these at this price only last week. didnt appear used aside from an opened box.

To be honest i wouldnt want to pay £200 for the non-refurb, its probably not worth it. That said at £119 im very happy with it. If you want any more info, ask here or pm and i will be as informative as possible.

Is it easy to install? What is the build quality like? it plays DivX files? What is the sound quality/volume like? can you detach a panel to deter thieves?
#4
instalation very easy (i have a zafira) i have the later model and it plays divx so not 100% sure this one does and no the panel is not removable
#5
This model does NOT play DivX, nor does it have any USB input like later models. (oliverbritt i think might have the DV725?? )

It is easy to install although you may have to purchase a wiring harness but that is just two plugs, a child/me could fit them :)

If your car has an odd sized factory fit stereo you may need to purchase a fascia adaptor, although when adding to basket it will check all this for your model of vehicle anyway.

Im not an audiophile, but this sounds much better than the stock stereo, less flat, even on the flat setting lol. Goes up quite loud tbh i havent gone all the way as i'll need new speakers then, which i cnnot afford.

There is no removable security panel, the item says it has a security fascia, which is basically a box that goes over the front of the stereo to mask it....although how effective that would be is anyones guess. Rather let a thief see its not worth stealing than have them wondering if its £1k worth of stereo lol.

Good deal :)

it looks like they are still trying to flog it though HUKD aswell this player from what i know doesnt have any removal part for protection which means some junkie will be smashing your car window in for the naff ripspeed stereo. A decent one of these will set you back anywhere from £500-£2000 so it shows what rubbish this is the sound quality will be rubbish.

Halfords has been selling refurbs of these for ages so that tells me that they break else there wouldnt be any refurbs they look like **** anyone who wants a decent stereo avoid this its been on here loads of times and always causes arguments you would be better served with a portable dvd/divx player which can be had for around £60 and will be removable from your car and put the rest to a decent stereo halfords have a decent range for about £60 or try www.bassjunkies.com. The best bit is saving money by not having to replace windows and damage to your car.

How is that tiny screen a better idea? And, you can buy a 'normal' stereo for hundreds of pounds also so surely your thoughts on "buy a decent stereo for £60" are also wrong?

If your worried about theft, remove the unit from your car? Takes about 10 seconds to do and will deter anyone breaking in.

The sound quality is not rubbish either, it is better than the standard Sony stereo that came with my car, which wasn't all that bad anyway. Of course a unit that costs £2000 will be better sound quality, have more functionality, and look better, but you cant have everything for <£120.

I would say, if your on a budget, or unsure of how much use you would get from a DVD unit, buy this, if you dont like it you can always sell on at a later date.

All manufacturers receive faulty goods back in, im sure many repair them to original state, then repackage them, then sell them as new. Halfords have chose to repair and sell at a discounted rate, complete with a full years warranty. Why is this a problem?

On a side note, that stereo that you link to polly69 is good value for money also, but not really useful for watching a DVD on do you think?
#15
yeah - I've got that one @ £49.99 and have to admit it is terrific: plays divx too :)
#16
must admit that is a good deal but would rather have a decent size screen than having to buy a telescope to look at that one!

One of the boys got one of these and its alright for the money... I installed it for him as he has no clue how to do stuff like that.
One thing you must realise is that it doesnt play the dvds unless you have the handbrake up as the safe way you are supposed to install it.... but there is another way.
On the back of the unit there is a wire labelled "handbrake", all you do is find an earthing point for that cable. Which means any screw that is bolted to the car you can undo and attatch to that... or do what I did and strip away some of the sleeving on the neutral cable (black) on the wiring on the back of the stereo and solder it to that, tape up using electrical tape.
By doing this it means you can watch dvds whenever you want, not just when the handbrake is on.
But use your head and dont get pulled over watching die hard cos im sure the cops can give you a ticket for driving without due care... trust me! haha.
Hope this helps people.

if you forget to remove the unit from your car one night some jippo (thief) also take about 10 seconds to steal this unit and that 10 second included breaking window and damaged the car as well
