  Was sure that Caesar was mentioned by the Orangutan in the original film as the ape who started the change.

  Technically the series was already completed in the original 5 movies and does not need a precursor. Caesar was a similar character to this one in both 'Conquest...' and 'Battle...'.
  
  'Rise...' is just a very good reimaging of 'Conquest...'. Will be interesting to see where they take it next.
