Just bought for £119 using a £10 discount code and 8% cashback.
Excellent stuff

Great find, especially as I paid £160 odd for mine a few months back.

However, I'm not too sure about the navigation it offers. I may still be in my old Navman setting/way of thinking, but it hasn't been that impressive in my opinion. I don't know how best to test it. Take it on a brand new journey for me, or use it on a route I know where I'm going with and see what it says?!

It arrived this afternoon.
Spent the evening trying to get my head round it.
The result is I'm going to a John Lewis tomorrow to return it.
Massive mistake ordering it. Horrible horrible interface.
I've already ordered the TomTom One from Amazon as replacement.

How long did it take to recalculate the route then? Tomtom takes less than 10 seconds

Having the pleasure of trying one of the road angels, I'm sorry to say but they fail miserably to getting anywhere near the tomtoms and Garmin units available..

After owning lots of different satnavs, I still say Tomtom are the best of the bunch.. They are easy to use, fast, reliable, have the best user interface of all the satnavs and the best voices, and are small and light enough to fit in your pocket..
At the end of the day they have been in this game a long time now and are the benchmark which other competitors need to beat to take market share. Most companys are not even 50% of the way there, and don't look to be getting any better, Road angel are one of these foraying into the world of satnav, There safety camera offerings were great, but need to do far better if they want to get into the ultra competitive world of satnav...

this is the first time i have bought one and it seems to do the trick for me but each to there own , has tomtom not just started doing safety alerts , also when my mate came up from leeds it could not find my house ,i had to go and get them 6 miles away :-D

Got my refund. 129 instead of the 119. Bonus!
Salesman advised me to get a TomTom. Top fella.
#14
Then your mates a twonk...:giggle:
#15
does this one do celebrity voices :-D
#16
Only if you think Tiff Needell is a celeb!

Part of the reason why I got the TomTom instead is because I want to be guided by Yoda.
I want to use the routes of the Force.

My Yoda voice pack has already been downloaded in anticipation of my TomTom delivery, which apparently is tomorrow. Also downloaded Darth Vader as well. After all, you've got to be fair to both sides, don't you.

"Take the 3rd exit you will."
"Speg... I... am your navigator."
#20
as long as the points stay off my license a dont care who speaks :p
#21
I disagree. Download a Joss Stone pack and have that as your voice. You will care then.
I defy anyone to keep their cool with that American wannabe yapping directions at you.
#22
i will pop into halfords and ask if it can get new voices :-D
#23
Now £109 delivered with code : ELL851KJH888 £20 off for new customers:thumbsup:

Oh and Quidco tracks as £6.45 making it £102.55 ;-)

I won one a 7000 at work. Not sure if they're trying to say something but it really is the worst sat-nav system on the market. I'd say that my wifes Garmin i3 is 100% better than it.

I've got installed nav in my company car and I run the RA 7000 alongside it for comparison and to use the speed camera alerts. Well it struggles badly with overhanging trees and tall buildings. I once drove from Kent to North Wales and it finally picked up a sat signal at the Welsh border.

The menu is annoying - fine not a big issue because it has a wide range of programming features. But the screen is truly awful. The graphics are jaggedy and the Garmin i3s screen is better than it.

Please save your money and buy a Garmin or Tom Tom.

Well I ordered one and it turned up this morning. Chucked it on the dashboard of my car and within 2 mins (cold start condition) I had 5 sats locked. Imho comparing ANY portable sat nav to an installed system is a fools errand as the installed sytem will have an antenna built into the car (probably on the roof) and won't suffer problems such as heated/UV protected screens. None of these problems I have as I drive a K reg escort:p

For what it's worth the father in law has a TomTom and it works fine in the transit but its a nightmare in the Citroen C5 thanks to the aforementioned windscreen 'upgrades'.

So all in, considering what I paid and what other retailers are asking for it, I consider it a bargain:thumbsup:
