Despite the fact its probably rubbish, its still dirt cheap for sat nav, hot!

Can't decide, my step-daughter needs a reliable one as her sense of direction is terrible but the reviews on the Curry's site say it's a bit flaky and maps are old.

May just have to go with a tom-tom start like her mums.

"Sorry! This item is not in stock at any of our stores near you." :(

Rimi, just put TomTom on this one (if you can get hold of one) :)

Just reserved one, never owned a sat-nav but for £25 I'm going to take a chance.Found some feedback from people who had bought these off eBay (generally around £55) and it was pretty positive. But the icing on the cake for me is the fact that I should eventually get to where I'm going and no thieving little chav scumbag is going to bother to put my windows in for this when I get there,Result!

Cheers OP

I have had a tomtom for years but recently saw a good deal on another brand, 4.3" screen, all the extras built in to it like local points of interest etc. Sold it, it was nowhere as good as my tomtom. If you need a simple to use reliable unit that does the job, then it has to be a tomtom.Simples

These buy a tomtom comments are not really all that helpful TBH as to my knowledge you can't get one for £25? My dad has a Garmin which is also superb but it cost 5 times the amount of this one. It's a bit like saying don't waste your money on a Fiat Punto,if you need a simple to use reliable unit which will get you from A to B then it has to be a Bugatti Veyron.

I understand what you are saying and in a way you are but sometimes it is better to spend a little extra and have something that does the job and is usable. There are many things out there for sale some good and some poor and most of us have in the past purchased an item to find it does not do what it is designed to do very well. As you get on in years you realise that sometimes a thing is cheap for a reason. it is of course up to the individual how they spend money.

If you can stick TomTom on this and it has a decent GPS recever that locks on quick, it'd be superhot!
#16
I got one of those binatone models for less than £30 from maplins stuck on tomtom and very pleased with it. I think some of the roadcom products are similar to binatone (generic chinese models).

You also see this happening in reverse... i.e. someone's spots a nice quality item going cheap, but it gets voted cold because those who don't care about quality think it's overpriced when compared to the (crap quality) alternatives. Irritating isn't it!

I dont understand people who down put "deals" like this, saying things like "absolute rubbish satnav!!!" when they probably neither seen or used this particular one.

fixed for you

If you can add tomtom 7 like you can with the navigos, binatones and f & hs, then this should scorch!
#21
So is it possible to install tom-tom software on this machine then? Thanks.

#23
You can probably download the tomtom software onto this sat nav...
#24
Has anyone here put tomtom on one of the cheaper units? This only has a fixed amount of internal memory, so might not take other gps software if you can't access the data.
#25
This is a brilliant price, not sure why people saying get tom tom there in a different price bracket! We got a tom tom a few years back for 160.00 as for europe too, we have had it repaired 3 times and it still goes wrong or too slow even now with new maps which can also be expensive. So for this price its worth a go and could be just as good...you pay for the name with tom tom too!
#26
Before buying I would check whether you can get map updates, or make certain that TomTom etc could be put on it.

A quick Google search for map updates did not provide any positive results.
#27
I was given a Binatone 430 as a gift ... http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/binatone-b430-uk-ireland-satellite-navigation-tesco-direct-39-97-del-free-collec/876360

It's certainly inferior to my girlfriend's TomTom One, however, provided it's set to shortest route rather than quickest route, it actually works quite well. The detailed diagrams of roundabouts & junctions are better than the TomTom One mapping.

My experience is that a cheap SatNav is ok for occasional use. If you will be using it on a daily basis, then spend more on a Garmin, TomTom, etc that has good reviews.

My main reservation with this deal is that Currys are not always helpful when you want to return a product for refund or exchange.
suspended#28
yeh you can put tomtom onto this, you need to find the pda version of it on the net
#29
Decided to go for one but no stock in any of the stores I tried within 20 or so miles. Shame seems like a good deal to me. :(

Stupid comment.

Its a fraction of the price of the cheapest TomTom, and for some people that makes the difference between having a SatNav particularly if they are low on funds.
#32
I can't see any mention of a sd card slot so guess you can't install other software.
#33
South Shields is showing as having stock, too far for me hope it helps someone
#34
we had an expensive tomtom and in all honesty not that impressed at all - had many problems!

Got a Garmin Nuvi and am very happy with it.

i think your "chav scum " just steal whatever they can so you would just as likely get this stolen as a a tom tom etc better off taking device with you when yopu leave your car :)
#36
None in stock near me either or within 20 miles.
#37
Sure this will suit some so if it meets your requirements then go for it.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 310 off ebay that is fine for my requirements but all the tom tom software comments for this value model make sense if you can get it to operate.

You wouldn't necessarily need a SD slot, just be able to see it on a PC as an external drive via USB.

but after you have paid for the tom tom software licence your savings would be wiped out

None in stock within 20 miles of Bolton, Derby, Warwick or Slough! Have siblings and parents in each area so thought I'd check. Thanks anyway, hot if you can get one :)
