I love Roald Dahl. Been reading the books geared to younger readers to my daughter. Is 'Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life' the one about the the teenage boy whose life is so great he makes a pact with the devil....?

I remember reading those, along with his others, as soon as possible. Boy has a passage in it that, at the time, had me crying with laughter - so hard that it hurt - one of the few times that's happened.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar was also very entertaining, particularly the idea of the development of powers of the mind.

You could go through the list and comment on them all. Adults would also get a lot more from them than many examples of what's thought of as "grown-up" literature.

excellent --did'nt he write Fungus the Bogeyman as well?

Blinding collection... I just finished Boy and Going Solo and they were brilliant. Read some of the others when an early teen. As a friend said 'My Uncle Oswald is the longest book about sex without having any sex in it' and it only contributes to it being brilliant.

Dahl. Bleedin' legend.

Henry Sugar is absolute GEEENIUS, and relatively unknown (vs The Twits and all his usuals). My copy is well-thumbed.

vaguely remember Henry Sugar - is that the one about a man who develops telepathy after 3 years of practice? The wins blackjack at loads of casinos?

"Switch Bitch" - doesn't sound liek roald Dahl to me?!? More a S & M manual
