Wheres the best place to get the RD50 /60 the classic roberts digital radio in the design of the 50's models?
#6
I recently bought the Roberts one at Comet for £19 , brilliant reception & sound .
#7
Can you "rewind" these radios to hear a repeat of something you misheard?
#9
There was a n RD-8 in the Co-op about six months back reduced to £54. That had the re-wind facility.

The RD-46 at Comet was at £29 recently after using a discount voucher.

None of these radios have a 'sleep' button by the way - seems to be a bit of an omission in my view

Is there Medum Vawe as well? Or is it for only FM?

What's the best deal on a DAB radio with a CD player at the moment? I can't seem to find a decent one for under £100 :(.
#12

#13
I got a black Roberts DAB (think its a model below this one) very good indeed!
#14
Great to see decent DAB coming down in price all the time. Thanks, H&R

will these DAB radios are any good in India? I want to gift one of these to my brother?

Maybe if they knocked off another £30. Terrible reviews for that radio everywhere.

Plus to me the Roberts look so ugly, I dont think there is a model I like. I wanted to get a DAB rad
for my lad for xmas. But now I am going to wait until you can buy a good Radio/DAB/Wifi all in one. There are a few out there but high priced and little choice. I think wifi will wipe out dab. Dab is still way to expensive considering the unit (spec, parts, quality, size) and I reckon in Jan Feb next year you'll be picking them up for £20 reduced from £90+ :-)

Unsure re India you will probably find info on the net, though don't hold your breath hoping it will work, even the French are still undecided as to use DAB like the rest of us or go DMB for a reason which only they know.:whistling:

isn't DAB technology now becoming obsolete?

they want to change the codec in use and most radios can't be upgraded...

cheapest one of those i've found is £130 (incl. p&p) from www.hiwayhifi.com. They have it in a variety of colours too.

I personally can't see why anyone would want to spend over £50 on a radio though. ;-)

Looks like a dcent deal but...
I have had generally poor experiences with Roberts DAB radios. I spent a fortune (over £150) on an RD5 when it first came out for my blind dad to give him the large choice of channels plus big preset buttons. It just stopped working after about 18 months and Roberts wouldn't touch it or offer any kind of help. I also bought my wife a RD49 (which can recharge AA batteries) about 3 years ago. It ruins the batteries (on my third set of 6 high power rechargeables now) and mine turns off when you put it down unless you do it extremely gently and at random times.
I also have a Pure Evoke 2 which I have had for around 4-5 years with no problems at all. Personally I don't think I'll buy a Roberts again.

To be fair i think you've had unusually bad luck on the Roberts front. I have both a Roberts and a Pure One - both are good but the Roberts pips it for me...build quality is that much better, is heavier and feels more substantial. Also bought one for my parents and in-laws and none of them have had a problem.
