Good find Andy. I have very fond memories of this but fear that a purchase might ruin the nostalgia. If I recall didn't they change the Maid Marion half way through or was it Robin? Hazy but great memories of this show! I also remember fighting with my brother as to who would 'be' the guy with the two swords (name?!?!) in garden fights!

Really tempted to order this....

They changed Robin Hood to Jason Connery (Sean's son). He was ok but I personally preffered Michael Praed? I'm not sure if this is the COMPLETE series or just the Michael Praed series.

Still a good watch I bought the first series a few years back and still enjoyed it, the series soundtrack by Clannad was excellent imo. :whistling:

I wouldn't worry, as this is one the few shows that stands up to scrutiny years later. I also had great memories of this from the 80s, so when I saw this airing on a digital channel a couple of years ago I tuned in to see if it was as good as I remembered. Quite simply, it was! Great acting, great cast, great sets, great storylines (usually)... Anyway, I purchased the boxset 4 weeks ago, and have not been disappointed.

BTW, what you receive is not what is pictured above. It is actually a hard plastic (slim-line) case containing all 8 discs.

BTW2, this is the complete series (i.e. ALL 3 seasons, spanning 2 Robin Hoods!)

That was Nasir the Saracen. I have to admit, the series is not as good as I remembered it but then I really loved it as a kid. PS they didn't actually replace Robin like they did Miss Ellie in Dallas - the first one died, and the second was chosen by Herne so he was a different character.

Meanwhile Michael Praed went off to be a European prince or something in Dynasty!

I bought this the last time it came around and am working my way through it.
Awesome series.
I totally lost interest when the first Robin regenerated into the second; Jason C. is a total kak actor. But I'm looking forward to seeing if his series was as bad as I remember.

I have no shame admitting that I cry everytime Michael Praed dies in this.

Robin....The Hooded Man (needs to be sang in a Clanad Style)

First half great. Second half (Connery) rubbish.

Is the transfer as rubbish as the VHS though?

Loved this as a kid but went right off it when Jason Connery took over. Not just because I thought Michael Praed was better but also I found at the time the storyline and action seemed to tone down to appeal to a younger audience, well younger than 12/13 as I was at the time so I stopped watching mostly. Be interesting to see if I could notice the difference now or whether you have to be around the age as I was to notice the change.

Must admit I watched one on Freeview over a year ago and I suppose like always, it was wasn't the same as how you remember it. A bit cheesy. Damn, I wish we could view programmes like this through the same era and age that we first viewed 'em.

Still better than that politically correct chavtastic rubbish on BBC 1 recently.

Absolutely loved this when I was a nipper but bought it and tried to watch it and it has aged very very badly.

But a good price if you want to buy the series - I just wish I hadn't (it spoiled some good memories!)

It's still 9.97 at Tesco, though it's "1-2 weeks" before it'll be delivered. I got mine from Tesco when the (more expensive) Zavvi offer for this set was posted and it took about a week to come through.

Praed ("Michael David Prince" at birth) played "Robin of Loxley".
Connery's character was "Robert of Huntingdon".

Yes, 26 episodes in total across 3 individual televised series airings. Connery "took over" the lead (but not the same character) when Praed left (when his character was killed) at the end of series 2.

And yes, Praed also starred in "Dynasty" as "Prince Michael of Moldavia".

Also notable appearances in the story from Ray Winstone ("Will Scarlet") & Richard O'Brien ("Gulnar").

BFN,
