In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years - and it's meant billions for OmniCorp's bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it.

When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman), a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

Wouldn't buy that for a dollar!

The original Rebocop Remastered is on Amazon for £5 if anyone is interested (as part of the 2 for £10 offer). Delivery is 1 - 3 weeks, but myexperience is you don't have to wait that long.

It's terrible, a horrible cash-in

Prefer the originals but its still alright I guess, worse films out there to watch. I'd go for the other like Yas mentioned, still good price though.

I quite like this one. The Original was never the greatest of films
#13
£5.99 for a coaster and replacement Blu-Ray jewel case.. Not worth it

This was pretty mild in terms of swearing & violence compared to the original. Story was interesting in terms of where glimpses of what we see today could become real in the future, same as original film.

Only good bit was the training in the warehouse to the tune of Hocus Pocus. Plus that Michael Keaton was in it.

Glad I only rented it, as I would never watch it again tbh.
Original Robocop films still are better imo.

I thought the training bit to hocus pocus was the worst part of the whole film! Awful!

This. Paul Verhoeven would be turning in his grave, if he was dead...

It's a perfectly decent film, but it seems most people can't judge it on its own merits and feel they have to compare it to the 80's version. The producers probably have to take some of the responsibility for that, because they called this film 'Robocop'.

"Robot Policeman" just doesn't have the same ring!

I suppose it depends on whether or not you think Robocop 2 and 3 are worth £3.40!

This was an interesting failure, a somewhat different take on the concept of the original film, rather than the original film itself. The weirdest thing about it for me was the pacing - it's a movie with no middle, and it felt to me like there was a real conflict between the director and the studio in the finished product. Not much is any better than the Verhoeven version, except for two scenes with Murphy out the suit - I challenge anyone with a sense of empathy not to feel something in those moments.

Not much is any better? you sound as though this is an equal to the original. which was fantastic. This remake was a horrible film. felt like an introduction to the characters and the actual reboot / remake is yet to still be made.

Taken on it's own merits not a terrible film, but compared to the original it's laughable

This! I can understand why people get miffed when a cult classic is remade, but whilst this is nothing like the original, it is still a decent action film, and not as bad as people are trying to make out.

I'd probably give it a 7/10, and at £5.99 not too bad.

If you haven't seen it, then maybe just pay the same price for a month of Netflix and watch it on there first.

Did you miss where I said it was a failure, had horrible pacing, and that.. not much is better than the Verhoeven version, which literally is almost the exact opposite of saying:

"this is an equal to the original"

?!

This film delayed my use of the Robocopy command because it sounded to much like Robocop...cold!

Nah just kidding (about the cold bit), not a bad film, didn't quite give the same excitement the first version gave but you couldn't recreate Shawshank Redemption to have the same effect either.
In short, have some heat!

I actually rather enjoyed this. Shame the studio interfered so much, could have been fantastic.

Now that's just silly! Nothing makes 3 look good!

There was a real conflict, it's well documented. For every 10 ideas the director had, 9 were turned down. They wanted the violence of the original as well but the studio refused. Shame, could have been sooo much better. I still rather liked it though.

I enjoyed it for what it was - and it was a damn sight better than that utter dross Total Recall remake with Constipated Farrell.
