This'll get voted cold simply because of the expense, but it's a nice price for those looking to pick it up on the high street. I'm tempted myself.

Voted hot...we are not all like that :-D

i am, until its sub £100, its cold

That's a great price tbh! Couple it with a student discount and it gets even better! Even without the free MS point it's nearly as cheap as online, with them its a cracking deal.
#5
voted hot for a good price but still wouldnt buy this especially when you consider that for £30 more you can get a wii and wii sports

and on a side note - last time i tried to use my student discount in HMV (bath branch) they told me they dont do it any more ??? - not sure if the guy behind the counter is just being difficult or if it really doesnt apply nationwide, it was only an £8 CD so couldnt be bothered to kick up a fuss for 80p, but wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience
#6
£150 for what, rock band and the instruments isnt worth that much, a lot of it is cheap material or fragile, like the other user said around £100 seems reasonable.
#7
Blatantly getting ripped off.

In US it's half the price!

Maybe they'll realise and do a price cut when it's not selling as much as they hoped, although no doubt the hardcore fan will shell out for it.
#8
It's the EA philosophy at work here, take a good idea, exploit and extort it beyond belief until you alienate every single gamer then buy another company and repeat.

Student discount should still apply, I think you just had a bad clerk.

Plenty of people import the US version for the PS3.

on Play.com it is £99 for the instruments and £39 for the game! so total of £138... £10 cheaper than here... Voted cold

Actually if you have read it properly you`d have noticed that it comes complete with 2100 Microsoft live points which is another £16.99 !.

Making a total of £156.97, before Quidco :whistling:

Voted hot.

Just phned the local hmv he said the deal is only for the first 10 customers

Voted cold because of the ridiculous price

Ouch! you could buy guitar hero, gta iv and a couple of other good games for the same price, or as others have said...a wii!!

Ive just cancelled my Amazon preorder for it at £72 ( http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/83073/amazon-rock-band-for-xbox-360-preor/showthread.php?p=2153025#post2153025 ) ... Its just too overpriced and will be a worthless dust gathering piece of junk once Guitar Hero IV is released later this year.

Tesco Online sell the game + kit for £140 delivered but with QuidCo that comes down to around £130. The 2100 MS Points from them are only £13.97 delivered (QuidCo on those too!) so total comes to approx £143. Play.com works out even cheaper with Vouchers + QuidCo (game and kit only).

Obviously if you're a student then you can get the 10% off at HMV but for us 'workers' Tesco/Play is the better deal. I agree with the general comments about it being too expensive anyway for a game but thought I'd add this info so people have some choice in the matter if they do want to buy it.

Plus I believe if anything goes wrong with the peripherals you have to contact EA directly, not the store (I know, I know, SoGA) so the added benefit of getting it from the High St. might not be applicable.

You're in for a long wait! I was looking to pay £130 for the instruments and the game, which was around the expected price for the set, so I was glad to pick it up for £133 from play, using their 5% disount voucher.

Yeah you could buy a wii for an extra £30, but if your anything like the other gamers i know, you'll be bored with it in a couple of days.

I spoke to a sales rep in HMV a while back and they said that at the minute they are considering wheter or not to keep giving the 10% student discount. You have to have an HMV student card though as they will not accept your university one. And they are not giving out any more HMV student cards untill next September/October, and that's only if they decide to continue giving student discount.
#18
I want it, but no way in hell am I paying over a ton for it.
#19
ucp8 ... No but you could wait and buy GH4 and the vastly superior GH4 instruments will hopefully be compatible with Rock Band (which you will be probably then be able to pick up for <£20)

And going on the £30 more and you can get a Wii philosophy, well let's look at it another way -

Instead of getting a Playstation 3 and the Grand Tourismo Demo ! -

Sony PS3 Console withGran Turismo 5: Prologue £289.99
http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/5320441/Sony-Playstation-3-PS3-Console-with-40GB-HDD-+-Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue/Product.html?dpr=2723

FOR JUST ANOTHER £40 YOU COULD GET 2 NEXT GEN CONSOLES -

Xbox 360 ARCADE with 5 Arcade games £149.99p
http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/3512999/Xbox-360-Arcade-Console/Product.html?dpr=2524
AND
Nintendo Wii Console including Wii Sports £179.99
http://www.play.com/Games/Wii/4-/1032617/Nintendo-Wii-Console-including-Wii-Sports/Product.html?dpr=2724

Rock band is an amazing bit of kit and when you think Guitar hero 3 and a Guitar was around £70 if you added all the extra instruments to guitar Hero it would be no cheaper.

Out This Friday already booked mine, Xbox 360 only by the way I do belive...

Penny Pincher's the lot of you heh

The average release price of a game on the 360 is what...40-50 pounds.
So that leaves 100 to 110 to account for. Go check for the prices on electronic drum kits and tell me how much they cost? Well over a Ton! and you get the Guitar and Mic on top of that.
This is easily worth the cost of it. The talk of price on Wii's and PS3's is completely irrelevant, that is not what is for sale!

I for one am picking up my Drum Kit and game on Friday, also on a side note, you can use you're guitar hero controller for Rockband and any USB Mic will do also.

Sorry, it just annoys me when people moan about the price of things, when in fact it is a excellent price and deal. If it will be a novelty to you, then sure dont buy it, but if like me, you see this package for what its actually worth and cant wait to play it, then dont hesitate! it is awsome:-D:thumbsup:

Posting "You could get for £** more/less instead" comments are stupid and irrelevent.
If you are looking to buy Rock Band, you are not going to then go off and buy a Mars bar, simply because its cheaper. (Weird comparison, but you get my point!)
This price is cheaper than RRP, and currently the cheapest available, therefore, surely its a hot deal? If you are not willing to pay the current price, and you are waiting fro this to come down in price, this doesnt make it cold. Its relevent to its current RRP price, and current selling price.

You cancelled a pre-order for £72.00 !!!!! Ouch, that's a great price for a great game.

I have imported the US PS3 version and it's an awesome game, especially with a few friends and lots of beer.

And you're missing everyone else's point.... its still half this price in the US! If they can sell them that cheap in the US then they should be able to do the same here but they dont because they can get away with it. And I almost guarantee they will all be made in China so production costs shouldnt factor in hugely. And yes, I realise that everything is more expensive over here but that doesnt mean we have to put up with it. People are just sick of Rip Off Britain.

Stupid and irrelivent? You could say the same about your post - i.e because its currently cheaper than RRP and the cheapest around then its hot - so by that logic (and again using another odd comparision) if a brand new Ferrari is being sold somewhere cheapest at £195,000 and the RRP is £200,000 then it must be a bargain, is just as stupid and irrelivent.

Well if the price of the Ferrari is £200,000, and you do see it for £195,000, thats a saving of £5000, so yes, it is actually a bargain, or better known as a "Hot Deal". Or were you expecting to see that same Ferrari for £25,000?
If an item has a set value or RRP, retailers are not going to completely ignore that, and sell a £150 item for £20, thats not how item value works.

Oh yeah great argument, really got me there

Of course you can see me saying it needs to be £20.

If you really think that a £5k saving on a £200k RRP car is a bargain then hell, I can find you hundreds of "Hot Deals"!! lol
#30
I just went in to my local HMV in the centre of Leeds and this deal was still in effect for every one.

Silly me, thinking saving £5000 would be a good deal????
You obviously have some sort of percentage the saving must be, compared to the price, in order to make it a 'deal'... I'm clearly looking at money saved, not percentage saved, unlike you.
A 10p item, selling for 2p, wouldn't really be that big of a deal (literally), although the percentage saved is huge.
However, a saving of £5000 is a lot.
