Not voting. Hot price for what it is, but an absolute rip off still IMHO.

It's not really a rip off. Just expensive. You pay for what you get, if you can't afford it then it doesn't make it a rip off.

I've easily got 3 or 4 times the use out of it than any other game so far, and I'm still playing it. That's better value for money for me than other other game so far.

That said, this isn't really a great deal. It's been available at this price since before launch. Check out Play.com and Shopto.com, they might be slightly cheaper than this option although you'd have to check.

Tesco have got the Drum Kits (solo) for around £50ish if you have a Guitar Hero Guitar and USB Microphone elsewhere.

Its well in excess of £100 for one console game. Bearing in mind the price in the USA also, safe to say that it is a rip off.

Just my opinion of course.

It's also cheaper for any other game/console/toaster out there. Ignore that for a second...

If...
Game A costs £30 and lasts 10 Hours
Game B costs £100 and last 150 Hours
DVD A costs £5 and last 2 Hours

Which game is better value?

I'm just trying to show that this game is excellent value, for the people put off at the 'high' price. And no I don't work/have involvement with anyone producing the title.

Thats fine - we are entitled to disagree TPP.

As an example, Guitar hero probably has half to 75% of the play time for a third to half of the price. I dont disagree with what you are saying, but I do disagree with the ratio of playtime/price mentioned.

a couple of things:

1 Everything is cheaper in America, it's just the way it is, you can't really blame Harmonix / EA for that. Instead blame it on the strong pound and our useless government.

2. the game is not "well in excess of £100" it is £39.99 most places. it is the instrument pack that is expensive but when you break it down it is no more costly per peripheral than any other instrument based game, and the DLC is actually cheaper than guitar Hero's and there is a lot more of it.

due to the depth of gameplay and longevity of the game, it's actually a pretty good deal, and a lot better than steel battalions was on the original XBOX.

I dont doubt that. But you cannot seperate off the game and instrument pack, as the pack is required to play the game! Its like saying a car chassis is £50 - its the engine that is expensive!

Fail to see how it isnt EAs fault - the pound is strong, but that directly affects how much they can charge. What you are saying is the pound is strong, therefore the price in GBP doesnt change but this means it is actually making them a LOT more money. Why shouldnt the reduce the price with this in mind???

No it isn't, you can use guitar hero guitars, or any USB microphone, you can play the game in single player no problem, you only need the pack if you have 3 mates that want to play as a band.

I played the game for 2 months before I got the instrument pack (went halves with a mate), and it was still better in one player as just a guitar game than Guitar Hero 3 was.

and for the record the instruments are made in China and the game is made in europe, importation tax in the U.K. is around 22% V.A.T. is 17.5% and the retailer has to make a profit as well, compare this to America where there is no importation duty, the most expensive state sales tax is 8% (although most states don't even have a sales tax) which is why most things are a lot cheaper in the U.S.

Fair enough I didnt realise that.

There's also the fact that in the UK there is a minimum of 1 year warranty on all electrical items. Whereas in America I think the minimum is 3 months. It all adds to the price.

Also Rock Band is awesome! No doubting it's expensive, but it is great fun if you can afford it.

That's just your personal taste in games, nowt to do with the value the average punter will get out of it. I have guitar hero but I spend more time on much cheaper games

Try telling that to EA, they are enforcing a 60 day warranty on the instruments, both in the US and UK (and other released countries)... then any replacement items do not get a new warranty, you're still only on the original 60 days from purchase, even if 59 have already passed by the time you get the new instrument from EA...

I've got Rock Band and its a good game, I use my two guitar hero guitars and the xbox's supplied (except with core/arcade) microphone, I may get the GH:World Tour drum kit in the autumn if its compatible with Rock Band, as it sounds more durable with rubber coated drum pads.

agreed, but you would have to wait a good few days for delivery, most people could get to a pc world fairly easily and have it tonight to play.
