Is this coming out for the Wii?

Yes, and hopefully all countries and platforms should see a release at the same time, unlike previous Rock Band games.

Hoping we'll also get the instruments at the same time too because i've been wanting a new drum kit for a while now.

Whilst this is a little early it is well worth considering the price of Rock Band 2 currently when making your pre-order. Rock Band 2 is still hard to find for under £30, so paying £30 for this on release would be a good deal, even if it is a little more than most releases.

The Rock Band brand is going far too 'twee' releasing a title like this because I wouldn't class The Beatles as a 'Rock' act, even in its generic sense. I'd even agree with grex9101 with his comment.

I was appauled at the Spongebob tracks which came out as DLC last month, next we'll be seeing opera and rap featured under this umbrella. How childish and obsurd can they go with this title when there are millions of amazing rock songs that could be used. As a former club DJ specialising in Rock music, I wish I was on the panel decideing which bands/record companies to approach to provide content for this game.

Rock Band is a title meant to showcase Heavy Metal and Rock, there are other games already catering for other musical genres so why encroach onto this licence? I wouldn't feel so strongly if they released another Rock Band installment at the same time with actual 'rock' songs on it.

Keep it ROCK!

Get over yourself with your precious categories. Take your blinkers off, it's all just music.

Also, if you want to stand a chance of being taken seriously, use a spelling checker.

Beatles... Classic Rock

Opera/Classical is the begining of music, without it there would be no rock.

As for Rap, I read late last year there are plans to bring Snoop Dogg to the Rock Band platform. It takes about 6 months for them to bring out a DLC track, so I imagine he is due anytime soon.

Maybe you should go buy Guitar Hero ;-)

You see, GTG, that's my point. It's all about categories. The exisitng dance-mat games cater for those who enjoy trance/house/electronica etc and I consider Rock Band to cater for those who love Metal/Rock. I don't see there's anything wrong with that, it's good to have a games that focused on one area, one audience.

I understand PennyPincher's point that Opera/Classical is a beginning to contemporary music, guitar-based or otherwise, but it's not relevant when we're discussing the Rock Band brand. As such, these genres have nothing to do with it.

Just to make it clear, I respect and understand a lot about rock music through the ages. If you re-read my initial message, I have no reference to The Beatles as being as sub-par band (which is what I believe some of you think) so there's no need to jump on my back. I do regard them as more of a 'folk' band of their era and that their take on song writing and engineering doesn't tally with that of modern rock/metal. As the game is essentailly co-created by Bang Camaro's Bryn Bennett, I have it in mind that the tracks featured within this brand should be of a similar sound to Bang Camaro and that they shouldn't stray too far from this. That's a band I would call straight up 'Rock'.

By the way, The reason I no longer DJ is because I chose to cease performing. The unsociable hours interfere with my physical day job which starts at 6am. :lazy:

Oh well, perhaps next time I should just act like most of the other HUKD visitors and either refrain from posting at all or stick to a one liner that everybody would agree with, LOL ;-)

i find it quite irritating that someone who worries about rap (and opera) being included in the rock band series, then turns around and says he used to "DJ" rock music. :whistling:

Yes, you're right, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Group The Beatles are not Rock.

As for the kids saying 'Worst Band Ever', you have heard of Black Lace, yes?

Folk? Doesn't tally with that of modern rock/metal? I'll cover "folk" in a second, but perhaps the reason why the song writing and engineering doesn't tally with that of modern rock/metal is becuase, ooh, it's _not_ modern rock/metal? Music moves on (with occasional moves sideways when someone rediscovers older forms, usually various blues forms and quite often Robert Johnson's work) and technology moves on ever more rapidly. Of course it's not going to tally. If it did then music and music technology would have been stagnant for 40-odd years. (On a positive note, at least then we wouldn't have so many people using AutoTune to get that bland perfect pitch that makes vocals sound dead.)

Folk. Okay, I can perhaps see what you mean by that but you would have had a stronger case if you'd gone for "pop", which the early Beatles quite patently were. But what does that matter? Have you looked at the RB songlist lately? http://www.rockband.com/music/songs and sort by genre. There's classic rock. There's punk. There's country. There's metal. There's funk. There's grunge. There's blues. There's prog. There's pop. And a hell of a lot of the tracks are not "modern", and frankly are all the better for it.

You don't like the Beatles. That's fine. But they're as valid as any other band to be in Rock Band, and claiming that Rock Band is only there to celebrate your particularly restricted view of music is plain wrong. (In truth, it's there to make money... let's not assign any higher objectives!)

While I would agree that the Beatles were a pop band I think if you want to take "ROCK" so seriously, maybe start a real band?

Rock band is a commercial product, it's a glorified dance mat ffs, and the beatles version will sell bucket loads as they are one of the most popular acts in the history of music, and that's what it's all about, appealing to a mass audience and making loads of money doing it.

Don't like it, don't buy it. Or get a job working for Harmonix and bitch and moan to them that it isn't ROCK enough, despite the fact the company will be making money hand over fist with this title, and see how far it gets you.

Voted warm as I think it might be found cheaper nearer the time.

BlueBlade -

You want a separate game series for each genre?
Why?
Who's going to buy "Rock Band - The Beatles" and then get disappointed when there's no Trivium or Metallica or whatever on it?

And as for the Beatles being overrated, well I don't think that's possible. How can you overrate the most successful band of all time?

Additionally, you don't HAVE to buy DLC do you? So what's wrong with overlap into other genres?

I for one can't wait for this to be delivered, because I have all the Guitar Hero games, and only like a small percentage of the tracks because the majority of them are a bit too heavy for my tastes.

Bit pricey with the instruments though, I do need instruments really, but I can't stretch my budget that far!
All I've got is one of those £9.99 Explorer guitars....
#26
I cannot wait for this.

I wonder how many tracks are going to be on it and which ones....?

I wonder how many tracks are going to be on it and which ones....?

Tracks currently listed on the website are;

* I Saw Her Standing There
* I Want to Hold Your Hand
* I Feel Fine
* Day Tripper
* Taxman
* I Am The Walrus
* Back In The U.S.S.R.
* Octopus’s Garden
* Here Comes The Sun
* Get Back

but there will be 45 tracks. There's also plans to release entire albums as DLC; "Abbey Road" is apparently due for release first (having said that, two of the tracks confirmed above are from Abbey Road anyway...)

Obviously BlueBlade has not heard of ROCk n roll that the beatles were classified as.

Rock has morphed throughout the years into what we have today. Just because it doesnt sound like contemporary doesnt mean its not rock.

Ridiculous statement to say the least.
#29
Aside from personal tastes on the band or not (personally I appreciate their talents but the songs don't do much for me) or the genre of music the important factor is they aren't a GUITAR BAND in the true sense of the word. The songs are largely about the vocals and the song structures, frankly I think most of the songs are going to be pretty boring to play on Rock Band.

Also its WAY to early to be posting this as a "deal" and more to the point why are people voting it HOT when most stores haven't even published prices for it.

Oh dear god. You obviously have not heard half of their back catalogue then. Some of their tracks have some of the best guitar riffs created eg Paperback writer, Day tripper etc etc. In fact, i would say 95% of their songs are guitar based.

Another ridiculous statement.

The kids are gonna get this wether they want it or not.

Just what I thought :lol
#32
Ok now we,ve debated it, can we actually get back to the deal on offer!
As someone pointed out RB2 is still tough to find for under £30, so might be worth jumping on this just now, if its your thing!
#33
I love the Beatles but don't think I could have fun playing this game. When I play Guitar Hero / Rock Band, I want to have to move my fingers fast as hell and have a good challenge, I can't play it on easy because it's too boring for me and to be honest The Beatles guitar and drums are quite simple (which doesn't make them any less amazing btw).
