Dont vote cold if ur not a cyclist
only vote cold if u think its a bad deal
its £700 cheaper than usual
with not bad spec
#3
Slightly above average deal but nothing outstanding
Technology has moved on a little since 2007 and this is probably just good value for money as opposed to a hot deal. Voted anyhow just to redress the -ve balance. I was looking at the Rocky Mountains but decided against it, as bikes like the Trek Fuel and Giant Anthems out spec/ perform the RMs

UPDATE: WHOAA its got cold. No surpruse really as most HUKD people are your typical £49.99 Tesco cyclists

very good frame tho my mate has this bike

What a rip-off! Do idiots actually pay this much for a bunch of pipes and rubber?
How much of a bike do you get for £1100?
People are dying all over the world due to the lack of basics and they charge £1100 for a bike!!!

hehe :) if you're smart, go into halfords and ask for 2007 models.

I got through my wee brother, who works in there, a 2006 carerra, price of which was 1300, and got it for £200. Technology just makes bikes obsolete so fast :(

just going slight OT, I'm on the look out for a "hardtail" bike, but I'm unsure what size i should be looking at, I'm 5'11

Judging by the frames sizes, this goes in inch and also small, medium and large, so on

Thanks for any help

Some sites have their sizes as S, M, L, XL

Do you happen to know what size in inch these convert to?

Was anybody at the glentress demo mbuk day

Depends how you ride, and often the brand so its always best where possible to have a go on the actual bike. I am 5'10" and always opt for 16" frame as like to be able to chuck it about a bit on the down sections. No doubt a correctly sized frame would be more efficient but not as much fun.

Heres a real tip. Wait until the end of the season when manufacturers bring out new modes when you can pick up a bike for nearly 50% off.

Each manufacturer has a different product year cycle, so some end in the autumn and some in the spring.

I got my 2008 Trek Fuel EX8 for over a third off this way.

Yeah, stupid, you could buy a decent car for that money, and live afew years extra without getting under the wheels of a Turkish arctic lorry.

might aswell buy a motorbike

yeah that's a great idea, the best i've come across on here in a long time

Taking into account that you can't ride a motorbike "legally" on tow paths, and on national cycle paths, not to mention cycle lanes

Also considering that you would also need insurance, tax and also petrol, add all that up each yeah and you could buy about 3k's worth of mountain bike.

I've not added maintenance costs as you would need to maintain a mountain bike also, but the costs would be no where near that of a motorbike.
