Usually around the £60-70 mark so a decent saving though the 4K enabled Roku 4 is just around the corner methinks.

Picked one up in the recent Tesco deal and it's a lot quicker than the Roku stick. Also it's a plus being able to hard wire it so there's one less device using up WiFi spectrum.

methinks not.... roku 4 came out in the US in 2015, yet it hasn't made its way to the UK.

Got two of these hard-wired round the house and they are excellent and very fast. Make sure you stick FilmonTV on it and you can watch most mainstream channels on it for free. They aren't HD but are more than watchable. So for the tv in a bedroom/dining room with no aerial it is a bonus.

Best streamer out there - and I've got most of the others.

Primarily use mine with Plex - plays 5.1 and Dolby sounds streams properly where others (Amazon Fire and Shield TV) struggle.

Only downside is that it won't play H265 content.

Bought one in December at this price - about to buy another for my Mum.

That's a seller who has imported it and selling at their own stupid markup.

The Roku Ultra (highest end newest model) has a $130 RRP, even just swapping the dollar sign for a pound sign that's half the price of that stupid link. That's the model I'm waiting for, with 4K and HDR.

A little punctuation would help here, I have no clue what you are trying to say.

Got this a couple of years ago for the same price with 3 months Now TV. Excellent streamer, very good PleX client and the new Android remote client is also excellent I just wish I could get the headphone remote to work through the Android client though.

you can get the newer US roku stick direct from amazon.com for £54 delivered which is faster than this and offers private listening via mobile app incase anybody interested

stick in an old micro SD card (2gb 4gb 8gb etc) and it's even quicker

I have had one of these for a couple of years, but still yet to find a decent motion controlled game.

The headphone socket on the remote is great.

I wanted something to connect a USB drive to, connect to a projector by HDMI, and watch movies. Would this do the trick? Does anyone know if there'd be any restrictions or limitations in file format?

Thanks :)

According to the tech spec on the Roku site:

USB Media Formats
Video: MP4 (H.264), MKV (H.264)
Audio: AAC, MP3
Image: JPG, PNG

So I'd say it's limited for playback via USB. It's why so many people use Plesk with it to handle transcoding.

Great box for online content though, I've got two already. Hot.

Can you sideload the likes of Showbox and Cartoon HD on these? Would an Android box be better?

That's a pure assumption.
