My experience with these type things is that at first they work really good.
But very soon they fade, regardless of how much you wind it up.
You will find that you can only get full brightness while you are winding, which is pointless.
So for me this is cold even at such a cheap price

which section was this in? Off camping and my son would lovce this! thanks

I support JonDonnis,
I have the same experience, I bought a wind-up touch at Morrison and Home bargain, Both appear to work perfect for a week, thereafter they began to fade. so voted ice cold

Is this some kind of wind-up?

BOOM!

Agreed - these are a total con. They contain a NON-RECHARGEABLE battery which lasts just long enough to persuade you that they're fine, and then they have nothing to store the energy from winding the handle (which is inadequate anyway).

Don't be so pathetic. What is the point of this torch if it doesn't work for much longer than a few days? As the two posters have said, you try them and they appear to be fine. Put one in your car or toolbox and when you need them the torch doesn't work. I wouldn't mind but you can buy a torch with quality batteries for around three or four pounds.
It would be an absolute bargain for 87p if it did work - even for a reasonable amount of time - but it doesn't so in my book it is a waste of money. The fact that a rechargeable torch doesn't have a rechargeable battery says it all about this company! In my experience Rolson are not very good at all. The tools bend, snap, twist or do anything they can to render themselves useless when put under any strain.
I'm sure the OP wasn't aware of the very short lifespan of this torch when it was posted. Otherwise I doubt they wouldn't have bothered.
Thanks for taking the time to post though and thanks to the people who have told us what to expect.

I can't vouch for this lamp, but I have had 2 in the past and they are rubbish. You find yourself winding for a few minutes to hopefully "charge it" for a while. It turns out that no matter how long you wind for you will only get a few seconds bright light before you are left in the dark.

To summarise: You will spend all your time winding up the lamp to actually use it - a pointless exercise. Plus, even if these DID have a rechargable battery I hate to think how many HOURS you'd have to stand there to supply enough current to charge the battery fully!
