cheap make , good for domestic though
This deal seems to have been posted more times than the " when does Boots 75% off sale start " question X)

Fair enough from my point of view as many people will not have seen yesterday's listings of this deal. Have some heat :)

This really is tat, sorry. There's little point in it being 3/8" as by the time you have put enough force on it to justify the jump from 1/4", you've broken the ratchet.

Someone asked me to change a cylinder head and told me they had a professional socket set, and this is what they had...

I'd buy a good quality 1/4" set, and bolster it with a 16 and 17mm socket. You rarely need the AF sizes these days.

I have never had any problems with rolson tools.

I dont even think you could make this set for this price. On that basis its a bargain (if you need them)

How does this compare with the halfords advanced toolset?

I have this identical set (bought from Maccess 5 years ago), and a Halfords Advanced Professional set and the quality is vastly different, which is expected for products which are 10x apart in price.

This set is ok for occasional use or just to get a cheap set of 3/8 sockets, but I wouldn't trust my knuckles on the ratchet holding under any force.
Suppose this would be ok for keeping in cupboad for rare use. If you plan to use this a lot or professionally i wouldnt waste your time and money.
Ratchet mechanism on these tend to seize up or fail completely. Im sure anyone whos had busted knuckles when a tool has failed will back me up that these sets are cheap for a reason.
That being said, for the occasional user this is a definately a good deal.
Rolson don't have a good name in tools for hard use but these 'should' be ok for light DIY use. If you can afford the Halfords proffesional range on offer at the moment they have quality and will last a lifetime !
These are £5 in Homebase.
These really are bad.
Don`t bother wasting your money on them.My dad had the same set and the ratchet knackered after very little use.Cost £8 then so he never even bothered getting a refund.

These are terrible, chinese made tat. If are using these tools - you would be better off employing somebody that knows what they are doing in the first place. In comparison Halfords professional are excellent quality, come with a lifetime guareetee and you can get an entire set for only £100 (thats cheap in pro tool terms) -and you would without doubt break more than 20 of these sets before the halfords set!

Check out

Cheaper is not always better when the product is flawed. i would rather spend my £5.50 on angry wasps and some jam pants.
