Is this the dish where you can receive most of sports games but in foreign language (Spanish, French). I was told once that you get most of sky channels but in different language - is this is the dish?
#8
not freesat, but perfectly usable with a bit of programming!

Yes but the dish is a bit big to be putting on a tripod.Ok on a fairly calm day but if a gust catches it,then it`ll go over, into the side of your van.
You can get smaller dishes from fleabay for around £20

Can i get premiership footy on this?
#12
Thanks, was looking for one of these.
#13
Premiere league footie is not free on anything these days, so answer is NO you wont get premiere league football maybe 1-2 games in a season, 2 the dish will work on about 2 satellite only due to size. 3 it will only work with FTA programms since as the reicver will be poor and un-programmable for anything worth while!

I got one of these a while back. What an absolutely terrible box. Will automatically go into standby after an hour or three. there's absolutely no way to override this in the menus. Rubbish if you plan to keep it switched on in order to record stuff using another device!!!
I ended up returning it.

I got A similar SD Satellite kit by comaq its well handy
these can be used for foreign TV. you can pick up Germany Arabic and Brit TV (freesat/sky signal)
The popular satellites are

astra1 @19.2e..mainly German TV Sport1 & Eurosport German & most German TV Chans
these have things like Monday night football on sport1 Germany version of uk championship football
Sun > Bolton v Stoke is on free on sport1 chan (it's on pay TV In the uk i think)
MotoGp,Darts the Taylor prem league thing is on as are a few big events like the PDC At xmas etc
Eurosport you know it all the usual stuff Tennis,Cycling,Snooker,Wsbk, strongman winter sports,Olympics, etc etc
Euro/Europa footy on German TV Internationals etc

Hotbird @13.0e has foreign TV With some Arabic sports chans etc

Dont forget these chans ^^ will be in native Lang ie. Eurosport is German lang as is sport1

Astra 28.2e Sky/freesat it will pick up all the free to air chans on there BBC.ITV.CH4 Etc

check here the "free to air only" chans on 19.2e..13.0e...28.2e
http://en.kingofsat.net/satellites.php

Aligning a dish is easy use Dishpointer com as a guide
ie select astra1 19.2e sat then put your post code in and drag the green pointer to you address that will then tell you where the dish needs to point to get a signal at astra 1

these are handy for the Caravan etc you dont get a full EPG Only now and next as a rule
i use mine a lot for footy and sports Especially the extra coverage of motogp they show on sport1
that the BBC Dont show and the bonus of Wsbk being on Europsport Germany too
if you like it this kit price is worth it alone just to get the 8-9 hr coverage daily of the
Tour De France

I think not with this box. You need a Freesat box for Ch5.

Nearly ordered one yesterday at double the price, so many thanks.

We already have a big satellite dish up with an old analogue receiver. Can I just take the receiver from this and the box and fit it to the existing satellite?
#21
Does anyone know if this will work in another country. The Caribbean for example?

analogue dish no it wont work with a modern day sat box the LNB The thing on the end of the satellite arm will prob need changeing
if your analogue box still works that should be pointing at astra1 19.2e (thats where sky used to beam from years ago)
fix the box to your dish try it on your tv via the scart
if it still works you should get the free analogue chans there still there till about april 2012
if it does work and is pointing at astra 1 Eurosport has Eng audio on there too

veralum

DrRossi I'm new to sat tv , have i got this right?

Tour de france is on Eurosport=(German) and German TV they do i lot more coverage than the uk does of the tour
There on sat astra1 @19.2e yes you will get free to air sat chans from the astra1 sat

if any one has probs finding the satellite if possible do what i do
i use a small portable tv that i set up in the window so i can see the screen
i put the tv on the scart picture
then i set the box up on the tv via scart and set it on say sport1chan
most are pre programmed in these box's my comaq was
then just adjust the dish untill sport1 pic appears on the tv screen check signal levels
tighten and your done.
also the dish dont need to be up high on a wall etc so long as it has a clear line of sight
to the satellite no trees / walls in the way etc thats all you need

my sat dish's are on the garden fence a chest height between conifers
it all depends on you location
if you or your neighbours have a sky dish up that's roughly the direction you need to point at sky is 28.2e on astra2
German tv is on 19.2e on astra1 .just 9degrees away from where a sky dish points
check dishpointer out to see if you can get it from your location

Orly?

How come I can watch pretty much ANY Premier League game I care to chose from using my Satellite dish and DM800?

Oh wait.... you mean its illegal to watch sky free and without a viewing card! X)

Yes highly illegal..

An the quality of these dish's are not the best.. Plus this comes with a FTA reciever which is unbelivably un-programmable.

Can't really go wrong with a TM500 Super. Same as a dreambox really but cheaper and more well built than a cheap dreambox clone. Item no. 390219235571 on ebay

HI guys
Had sky for a while and like many other paying loads to keep it going.
Thinking of getting a package of these 'free' channels.
I notice that many of these free boxes have many channels but many are +1, +2 +3 etc hours of the same channel - so by the time to work it out - if a box says over 100 channels - its actually about a 1/3rd by the time to take all the radio channels out.
Is this the same or the wrong box I am talking about.

Bascially want to save the 600 odd paid to sky and get a package for about 250ish and how do I find out if they have or receive the food network and UKTV channels (family is cooking mad). Also cartoon networks for the kids etc, footie is a bonus if I get it and dont care if its in Afrikaans or Zulu as long as there is a picture.

What is a good sized package to buy - good sized dish, motor and receiver?
Grateful for a pointer in the right direction, totally new to this so just want to make sure if I get rid of the sky - I can at least pick up some of the channels that are on there (is there a list anywhere).

cheers G
