great stuff. i got all the remasters for about £5 each a few years ago, and it was well worth it, so for £3 it's even better. great music and the sound quality of the remastering was great too

Many thanks! I wasn't around for them at the time- wanted to get into them after that brill bbc doc a little a while ago but "greatest hits" is never the way to go is it? found flesh and blood and avalon (which I LOVE) on charity shop LPs - this is really almost as cheap

I'm sorely tempted by these because the only Roxy CD I have is the Street Life Greatest Hits (second CD I ever bought and currently 4.55 on Amazon) which I love, but I notice that there's loads and loads of album tracks not on that compilation. A quick bit of research suggests that there's a couple of albums not at 2.99 - "Country Life" (3.87 at Amazon) and "Avalon" (3.99 at HMV and Amazon) - if you want to get the complete set of remastered albums. Looks like I'm off to spend 25.80 then!

Just spotted that HMV also have a fair chunk of Bryan Ferry's solo albums at 2.99 too, but I think I'll stick with the Roxy purchases for the moment...

the solo albums are good too. until roxy split, he was kinda knocking out a roxy music album and then a solo album after each other, the solo albums had a few more covers. the greatest hits disc that everyone knows well is basically a mix of roxy and solo stuff, it's hard to tell the difference between the two. some of the earlier roxy albums are a bit more experimental when eno was involved, but it's pretty tame compared to most of the 70s weirdness, just think a little early bowie influence, don't be put off. after eno leaves you get the smooth roxy ballad sound, a bit like bowies young americans period. the later 80s/90s solo stuff isn't as good, but it's not crap by any means, it's just the typical fare of an artist that's had a good few years of excellent stuff and the creativity dries up a bit. think stevie wonder, macca, etc after the hey day when the hits dry up. not bad music, but nothing outstanding. david gilmour pops up now and then on some of it though, one or two roxy members are in his solo band. bryan has a new solo album due out soon btw, i think it's another covers album, the follow up to his dylan covers album
