This old classic brain teaser toy is now in Poundland. Just bought two of them for kids from Poundland in Winchester. Don't see any on their web-site, so not sure if it's nationwide. They had different colours in stock (red, green, black, blue). They are not rubik's official version and are called rubik's square. Absoplutely brilliant!

There are a lot of shapes to make you can find on the internet. For example - http://www.rubiks.com/World/~/media/Files/hint_snake.ashx

Oh I used to love this!!!!

Bought one of these a couple of months ago. My son absolutely loved it, and played with it constantly for about 3 weeks, till it broke.
Unfortunately, the spring mechanism for this version is one long piece of 'catgut' through the whole toy, rather than many individual joints.

However it IS still a very good toy , and I would happily but 3 or 4 next time I see them, replacing them as they break. Heat and rep

My 5 year old son found my original one of these at my parents house the other week - even after 25year odd years ( maybe more ? ) you never forget how to make various shapes with it
