A posting on the macrumors site is saying Toys 'R' Us are selling macs (prob display models) very cheap.

I can't confirm (stuck at work) but could be a bargain if anything is left. See this link for more details http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=343050

Might be worth a trip or some calls, with alleged prices such as:

Mac Mini (Intel) - £199
Mac Mini (PPC) - £99
.mac boxed - £19
Macbook - £379 (!)
iMac - £279 (not sure which model, I suspect a PPC at this price though)

Just thought I'd share it - maybe someone will get a bargain!!

Update: Reported that Milton Keynes have an ex-display MacBook at £399 - good condition, and an iMac again at £399.

Hope this helps.

I bought a macbook 1.83mhz 512mb ram 60gb combo drive for £399 from York. Don't bother trying Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Doncaster, Hull, Leeds, Wakefield or York unless you're looking for software or accessories. There's .mac, ilife06, wireless keyboards and mice floating around too if you look hard enough.
#10
just reserved a imac 1.83ghz as stated above, in MK. but its £400, i can get them for that on ebay.

Dont know if its worth it or not.

Sounds nasty :?

Begs the question - are they giving any warranties with these? A Core 2 Duo imac for £399 ain't bad tho...

Hmmm, might pop down to try get .mac from Leeds - worth it if £19 even though my renewal isn't due until Jan 08!
#16
lol, bolton said they were 30 for .mac

I think it's really selfish that people buy them all, they can blatantly afford to buy them at full price so they should give poorer people a chance. Hum. Also, they'll just sell them on ebay which is irritating as they don't even want them, just to make a profit, where as I would like one for uni but i don't get the chance to get one at a cheap price. *stops ranting now* hum de doo..
#18
.mac is selling for £14.99 round here.
#19
buy me one ill pay you shipping :)

Money is easy to come by when you already have it :whistling:
One of the great dilemmas.
#21
I've got the money, just a nagging mother that wont let me spend it before uni ;P.. I did mean to speak in a broad sense.. not just personally, it's like those £5 bags selling on ebay for 100's.. such selfish people. heh..

I just called the Oldbury branch and they said they only have the Mini Mac left at £199. Spoke to someone who didn't sound like they knew what they were on about but said its got 60gb hard drive, so I'm guessing it's a Mac mini 1.5GHz Intel Core Solo/512MB/60GB/Combo

whats dot mac?
#25
if anyone feels like being kind enough to buy me a copy of .mac I would be very greatful to pay you for any shipping and packaging costs :)

My gf has a g4 powerbook and it's her birthday coming up, would make a nice little stocking filler to go with the other stuff I ahve bought her ;-)

It seems it is all over. Apparently this has been going on for 2 weeks!
None in Bristol, Oxford, Gloucesterand Swindon.
Cant beleive no one picked up on it before now...even me!:x
#27
It's probably just a general lack of mac awareness, I know I don't really think about the prices much when I browse macs in shops. I just don't really know how much they cost ... and am not really interested lol

Gutted about this, I am after a Mac Mini at the moment, am waiting until October to buy one new with Leopard but would have nabbed an older specced one for £199!

I went to Toys 'r' Us tonight but didn't even think to look as i don't want one but there were a fair few people milling around the Computer Section.

Could have bought one though for the amount i spent on Take Along Thomas stuff for my son's birthday though. :giggle:
#36
I assume it came with Tiger Bladeflyer?

Amazing price, those specs are good, I was expecting you to say it was the 1.42Ghz model for that price.
#37
Got a used wired mighty mouse for a fiver and an old model wireless mouse for a tenner in portsmouth. my mate got a 17" imac core duo for 350 and I'm waiting to see what spec but the box said it had a superdrive and a proper graphics card, lucky ******.

That's a great buy too, they are £30 + Delivery elsewhere.

It's unusual that somone on HUKD didn't pick up on this sale earlier!

Yep, preinstalled and a recovery disc too. Also came with the Frontrow remote control and DVI-VGA adapter.

Apparently. it can also be upgraded to the new merom core 2 duo 2.33Ghz proc too. Obviously, voiding the warranty.
