Hope they've addressed the lid problem.

I had one of these kettles up until last week when the lid broke, looking around at reviews it seems that this model and Russell Hobbs kettles in general have the same lid problem.

Same here, the lid on mine is so difficult to open I have to hit the top of the lid whilst forcing the button in. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I wouldn't buy another one ever again! Mind you, this is the third kettle I have had and they all seem to suffer with quality issues these days.

If anyone has a kettle that they have owned for more than a year and can highly recommend it, then do post the model number as I would really like a new kettle to trust! 8)

The lid on ours just popped its bits everywhere when the button was pushed to open it making it useless after that as it would no longer close and hence wouldn't finish boiling.

Anyway, after much research into a new kettle I went for this Breville one which has no reported lid problems that I could find on any review site and also no reported leaks which also seems to be prevalent in many kettles.

Edit: The link above seems to be broken so just cut and paste it and it should work

Just to let people know, if the lid is not closed correctly (fully) the kettle will keep on boiling until it runs dry.
This is great if you need to strip the wall paper in your kitchen!

I have this kettle and have the same lid issue. Can't wait till mine dies so I can get a proper kettle!

We've had the silver version for a couple of months with no problems (around £15 from Asda) . Had the black version with the lid problem which went back to Argos.
