Maybe I got a dodgy one but the on/off button sometimes sticks in the on position so if I leave it unattended when on, my kitchen resembles a steam room..and it's only 6 months old..so I'm out.

That happened to mine once, but the lid was open, so i dont think it is a problem, I paid £20 from tesco about 6 months ago

bought this a while back, but the lid broke after a few months. Ended up getting a phillips replacement off Amazon and haven't had any problems.

Maybe I'm just being thick but if the lid isn't closed completely and the kettle doesn't switch off surely that's both a problem and dangerous?....the fact that the lid is shut shouldn't have any bearing on whether the kettle switches off..and if it's not just my kettle then it's a design fault?...I've binned it.. Don't trust it.

I think every kettle is like this, best guess would be if the generated steam escapes the temp will never get hot enough to throw the thermo switch to off?
I know when there was a problem with our local water supply some years back we were advise to boil water for longer then usual (can't recall exact time) and this was impossible in a kettle as they switch off upon reaching boiling temp...so we left the lid open and voila!

Good price 8)

I too have this kettle - its great plus very stylish and looks good when switched on as the blue light up the side illuminates.

great price

I find with these types of upright kettles the worktop is always wet. With the old style silver electric kettles with a spout the water went in the teapot.
#13
Oh, and that (was) price is just ridiculous!

I got the aluminium one from tesco a week ago for £25, use double voucher promo to get it. Ok so far, will look out for the lid problem mentioned.
#15
My lid broke as well. All the people with the same problem should set the alarm bells ringing.
#16
i just made a cuppa with one of these, good kettle, very fast boil

Still a bit expensive for a water boiler even at the reduced price. My kettle cost half this from Asda, and has been fine.
Kudos to a fellow Newcastle fan though !

My wife liked the look of this though and wanted it bought !

I have this kettle, the lid also broke on mine.

The lid has two plastic hinges that just seem to deteriorate.

excellent price for an excellent kettle. have one myself

Way too hot for a kettle that breaks so easily after a few months.
#24
It's £12.99 in Clearance Bargains. At least it is in the Walsall Branch.
#25
Cheers, ordered one of these, need a new kettle!

This is the one as I bought as a replacement for the one in the original post. The Phillips one is much better in my opinion.
