The is also the rapid boil concealed element (ceramic element?not sure) Philips Kettle at Dixons for £20, no glass window , but then again no glass windows which in a year leaks!

http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0024724284.1267196544@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccegadejjldkjffcflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=059233&category_oid=-29089

Helpful tip, even if the Kettle is over a year old, give the manufacturer a call, because they will often send you a 'good will' replacement (you will need a copy of your invoice) I don't think many people return kettles because they are such a necessity, as you end up having to get one straight away. Found Rowenta very good in this regard, Russell Hobbs offered a discount off a replacement. All the glass window kettles I've had leaked eventually.

voted hot. Bought one of these a few months ago, about the same price on offer at argos, definately worth 20 quid. boils quick enough then seems to carry on boiling for few seconds more resulting in nice hot tea.

It does say it has a water gauge though, and I find they're just as likely to leak, or possibly even more so than a window. One thing I do is save the old switch, as most kettles use the same components, so I can resurrect my next kettle if its switch fails before either the element goes or it gets too leaky.

Had one since before Christmas, as said already boils really quick. We are very happy with it so far :)

Wow, am I impressed or what! A high speed kettle that can handle 17 litres - might get one to fill the bath :)

it is 1.7 litres sadly.
