Great specification washing machine at a low price! Saw this ‘12 minute wash’ all over the press a couple of months ago and it looks like the graphite washing machine is back and even cheaper at only £297 online.

Nearly 5 stars out of 5 on Asda.com and not one bad review out of all the customer reviews...the 12 minute wash feature seems to be very popular! Read the energy and time saving facts in the description for more information on how it works.

Also free home delivery at the moment – saving the standard £18.95 delivery (It seems like all the Russell Hobbs white goods on Asda.com have free delivery too, which is a hot deal in itself - doesn’t say until when though). I went into my local Asda Supercentre and they said it was only on sale online.

Be careful to read the reviews of this before you jump in... I was close to buying before I read this:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1371713/The-12-minute-washing-machine-It-took-days.html

Ok so some things in the article are a bit ridiculous, but I also read (maybe in that article, maybe elsewhere) that the innards are just a cheap Turkish jobbie and Asda have purchased the right to badge it as RH.

Also the 12 minute was can only be used for 1kg of clothes that aren't dirty or have not been worn against the body or something stupid like that.

As with all "energy saving" devices, you will pay with lower quality results.

She was clearly out to try to slate this product... The tests are ridiculous for a quick wash. My mum has one of these and is very happy with it. I would consider the end user reviews, which show that all are satisfied, rather than a journalist trying poorly to make a name for herself!

I bought this machine in March after my old washer broke and I saw the reviews in the press. The 12 minute wash is so useful for washing all my family’s everyday lightly soiled items, I don’t know how I coped with my old machine that didn’t have such a speedy quick wash. I obviously don’t put in ketchup and soil stained clothes in to wash in 12 minutes as that’s not what it is designed for…I would use one of the other wash cycles for this which work really well and have got out many of my children’s messy accidents and stains.

If that is true about the Turkish manufacturer, Russell Hobbs a good quality brand would not associate their name with poor quality products so it would have to be high quality product. And I can certainly vouch that the machine is sturdy quality with a good finish and very modern design. Great product by Russell Hobbs and such a good price by Asda, what more could you want!

Useful article also including the comment at the bottom too:

Not sure how you can judge quality after havbing it for 2 months...

Don't get me wrong i'm not knocking the machine, I have never used one myself, people just need to know more about if before they jump in and buy one like I nearly did.

Like knowing that on the 12 minute wash you can only wash 2kg of "not dirty" clothes, not the full 7kg.

I thought it was common knowledge that washing machines only wash a reduced load capacity on a quick wash or refresh wash. This is the same with every other machine out there...so I would think that people would automicatically presume that this would be the case with the 12 minute wash. If people thought about it properly 12 minutes is obviously not long enough to soak, wash and rinse a big 7kg load of dirty and soiled clothes, people can't expect miracles.

Also, I would have thought that people read up about the specifiaction of a product before they buy it and don't just jump in to buying a £300 product, or is that just me?!

In answer to your questions:

a) common knowledge for people who use washing machines AND RTFM maybe, but i'm a bloke so never use the WM.

b) yes people would read up on the specification, which doesn't mention the 2kg load for the quick wash option... or are you telling me you download the manual of everything you buy before you buy it to check every minute detail?

Yes I suppose the people who use a washing machine regularly would know this more so than those who don't do the washing but it is quite logical for someone to work out that a short wash will only be able to wash a smaller amount.

Yes the specification doesn't mention it does it, that would make things easier to see at a glance. But a little bit of research into washing machines in general, similar spec products, read the reviews in the paper which give detail like that and the end customer reviews (like Croupier says they are probably the most trusted source) you can get somewhere without downloading the whole manual.

Anyway, back to the offer...I posted it as it is a cheap price for a branded product with a great spec compared to other branded products with similar specs. Plus free delivery it always a bonus on anything!

My twopenneth - if the washing machine is anything like their kettles and toasters, I would avoid like the plague.

I'd avoid you like the plague. A staff member of powerdirect whom retails Bosch and Neff products. Way to defame a 50 year old British brand.

Oh and I got the larger 9kg version of this and it works great. Couldn't be happier!
