Ryanair currently have £1 flights no taxes on in May - June booking until 22nd April:

http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/

If you sign up to Entropay then this gives you an instant virtual visa card which you can top up immediately (minimum £10) online. Ryanairs website recognises this card as Visa Electron which means no card admin fee so you really can get flights for £2 return!:

http://www.entropay.com/

Use this website to find the cheapest day to travel. The flight offer only started this morning so Skyscanner prices are not yet 100% up to date but it gives you a rough idea of when the cheapest flight is so you can then go to the Ryanair website:

http://www.skyscanner.net/month

I have used this method twice in the past one week and can confirm it works.

Happy holidays!

Have just signed up for an Entropay account. Only after verifying the account do you find that there's a Load Fee of (4.95%); that's what they make for their service obviously.
Just so's you know.
#2
still works out a lot cheaper. i signed up and it worked a treat for me, just wish id known about this earlier.
#3
Shame about the load fee.... but it's no way near as high as the card charges which Ryanair load on. Top tip off. Thanks. Hot

Good deal.

Load Fee, (4.95%) is cheaper than Ryanair charges.
#5
cheers
#6
many thanks, just booked a return flight from Belfast to London for £4 for both me & the better half! brilliant! :)

good tip about Entropay, certainly better paying 50p than £20 Ryanair fees!!
#7
Coop bank do electron cards with their current account if requested.

Ok I just attempted to sign up for an entropay card online & when it gets to the page that asks you to enter your details for a card to load funds with I keep getting an error saying I am not currently set up to allow this function? Any ideas what I'm doing wrong,as I don't see any other way of doing it as it appears to keep referring me back to this same page? I have emailed them, but says may be up to 24 hrs before I get a reply. I was attempting to add a Lloyds TSB visa debit card. Any ideas on how to sort this greatfully appreciated.

Just booked 2 adults 2 children to Cork for half term for £45 inc 1 case. Bargain!!
Need to find cheap car hire now
#10
do any veterans of the ryan air deals know if they do this in july?
#11
Damnit. Just booked last week to go from Manchester to Dusseldorf, £48 for two of us. Now it's £4. Slightly annoying.
#12
I couldn't get paid to fly Ryanair. Awful company run by an awful man.

All the more for the rest of us then! I doubt he will be making money on the £4 return flights (for 2) I booked yesterday from Manchester to Bergamo in June.

If you want to avoid the 4.95% load fee for Entropay the Post Office Travel Money card load fees are 1.5% commission for loading Sterling (£) card, subject to a minimum fee of £3, maximum fee of £20. Granted you have to wait a day to get it activated and you need to take ID to the post office... but you get a real card you can use in shops too.

Its cheaper to open a smile current account or halifax easycash current account. They both offer electron cards free of charge.

I can't understand why you wouldn't just buy a visa electron instead. Completely free. I got one recently from the Coop bank. I've never banked with them before and it was absolutely no problem to set up.

True - but on balance I could get a Post Office card quicker and it doesn't cause me any extra paperwork and entries on my tax return form. I'm trying to keep the number of current accounts I have down to 2. Alliance and Leicester give me free travel insurance and good interest on current account and Nationwide great exchange rates when abroad for cash withdrawals. Swings and roundabouts I suppose. Either way - any of the 3 methods will save you money!

Hi Everybody,

I hope somebody can help me. I booked flights last night from Liverpool to Dublin. When I checked the email this morning it has charged me a £10 handling fee for each person.

Has everybody got this or have I done something wrong.

Please help

entropay isn't as cheap as the post office card, which has a 3% (from memory) load cost

Booked some of the 1p flights, was meant to be leaving this morning but wouldn't let me check-in online! Wasted sterling > Euro conversion now, idiots.

They charge about £5 per person per flight for a credit or debit card charge. However if you have an Electron Card (which is what this thread has been saying) you can avoid this fee.

You should have been receving emails from RyanAir prior to today reminding you to check-in. Bit harsh calling them idiots if indeed you have left it until less than 4 hours before when you could have checked in 2 weeks before your flight. I think you can still get the flight but you will have to pay for normal checkin at the airport.

Not every flight or date is included in this special offer. I can't see your dates to recreate the availability, but as a general rule next to the "Fare GBP 2.00" or whatever, it has to say "NO TAXES" or sometimes "SPECIAL OFFER" to show that it is part of the promotion.

EDIT: I've noticed that for some routes, the "SPECIAL OFFER" fare does seem to have some additional taxes, and I am not sure why. Usually Republic of Ireland departures, and around £8.86 per person.

Title is a bit misleading. There IS a card fee with Entropay.

ahhh rite. thankuu x

I think the £8.86 charge is the £ equivalent of a new Irish governent airport tax which is EUR10.00 per person. It only appears on flights back from airports in the Republic of Ireland.

I just booked a flight, selected VISA ELECTRON as payment method and entered by Entropay card number, which took all of 60 seconds to set up. (Worth the 4.95% in my book!)

To the original poster - thank you! I've always been put off my the Post Office card, and opening extra bank accounts seemed far too much hassle - so Entropay was a gift! With my £10 top up, the charge was 50p - far lower than Post Office (for me) - This £10 on my card will only ever be used for these £1 flights so it'll take a lot to reach the Post Office £3 card fee + 1.5%.

I just can't get over the charges Ryanair charge - they are a complete joke! I just don't get how they can justify the charges and how they can legally get away with it!!

Want to vote cold...but even with the steep charges - this deal is cheaper than easyjet. Just can't bring myself to vote hot!!

It's just marketing - as you say, the deal is still cheaper than easyJet because easyJet present the prices in a different way it feels more 'honest'. At the end of a Ryanair transaction you feel that you've been taken advantage of!

I totally agree with what you say - I was able to get a £2 return flight with absolutely no fees or taxes, but Ryanair have made flying much cheaper than ever before - but still manage to make people feel ripped off.

Last time I flew, Ryanair were advertising flights at £4.99, at the end of the transaction, it came to £33.97. Plus £4.75 handling fee.
British Airways were charging £39.00, plus a credit card fee. At the end of the transaction it was still £39.00! Guess who I booked with that time?

But these £1 flights are irresistible!

This one is nothing to do with Ryanair though. It's the Irish government who have introduced it.
