Just booked two days in Paris from Glasgow for myself and the wife for £2.00 each return. Now to find a cheap hotel and that will do her for a Christmas present. She will think it cost me a fortune.

because the flight is £4. All their extra charges take it upto £52.
#17
Hear this - Lyinair now charge per person per flight for credit card charges for everything apart from visa/electron debit cards and they intend to start charging for these too http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/faqs.php?sect=CHARGES.

We booked some skiing flights yesterday whose headline price was zero outbound and £2.74 return. Final price inc baggage was £85 per person We booked for 15 guys and the surcharge for the credit card surcharge came to £120 in total. Last Year this charge was per credit card transaction now its per person per flight. Because these credit card charges lie outside of the new rules on upfront pricing my own opinion is that Ryanair are simply profiteering because they can - time for the OFT to look at this practice me thinks!
#18
Flights - £4
Baggage - £64
Airport check in - £16
Credit Card charge - £32

So for a £4 flight its now costing £116.
#19
I didn't complete my order, not going from £4 to £52 !

I've just ordered a visa electron card, which i'm gonna use to book with Ryan Air on their next "sale".
#20
why are the taxes on a weekend flight coming to £164 for 4 people and to the same place a few days later is nothing?
banned#21
The £16 charge is £4.00 per person, per flight, just to pay by credit OR DEBIT card. It's a complete rip off, I don't care that the flight costs £2.00 each - it does not cost Ryanair £16 to process a credit card payment on a £4.00 fare!
If Ryanair didn't make such a song and dance about other airlines ''overcharging'' then maybe it would be more acceptable.

Is it too much to ask for Ryanair to be honest about their charges?

On certain flights Ryanair will pay the taxes. If it says 'Regular Fare' then they will add taxes.
#23
it wasnt a regular fair though thats the thing, it was a special offer one just like the others.
#24
Applicable Days: Mon - Thurs & Sat (Subject to Availability)
#25
Remember if it's short trip just take the free 10 KG hand luggage it'll be cheaper to buy T-shirt or get a service wash on clothes or even post your luggage within the UK (I've seen Ebay £5.99 for a 20KG parcel servicel)
#26
i can't believe are bitching about paying £20 for a flight 1000's of miles. found a cheaper way?
#27
its not that people are bitching about paying £20, its the principle that a company who is saying "oooh £1 a flight" then adding on £24 for baggage then £8 for checking in and then £16 for you paying by any card, when there isnt even another option. I agree it still works out cheap and I will probably book some flights myself, but you have to admit that Ryanair are making a lot more money out charging people ridiculous amounts of money for paying with a debit card.

But even if the fare is the same, it has to say SPECIAL OFFER beside it.

Here's an example (sorry if I am labouring the point, I really dislike Ryanair but that means I know all their tricks!)

£0.00 - but you have to pay taxes

It's not the fare, it's the way Ryanair hide it. Even with all the charges it's a great price, so why are Ryanair so afraid of displaying the price that you will actually have to pay?

Why not show a fare of £50, with reductions if you don't take luggage for example.

Cheeky Monkeys.

I remember I booked flights that cost something like £60.00 to Rome and I had to change one of the named passengers and they charged me £90 to do it, something that took 10 seconds over the phone to do. The only reason I didnt book a new flight is because they had risen in price. The girl I was talking to then had the cheek to ask me if I wanted a hotel through them lol.

Friday is not part of this special offer, hence the difference in price. The fact that it is still prices at £0 is just coincidence.
#32
agreed 5lab - get real matey! Anything less than a ton right now is a bargain! And £36 is more like you robbing them! You can't get a train to London and back for that from here!!

And if you're gonna harp (geddit?) on about taxes you should see FlyBE... £24 on tax is a bargain. And I dislike Ryanair, but considering I flew to Shannon earlier in the year for a quid all-in, I ain't gonna make a big deal about it!
#33
Thanks OP, just got some Xmas flights to Dublin for me and the misses for 2 quid each return :D

No one is harping on about taxes. Someone asked why some fares had no taxes, and some have taxes extra.
Again, if £36.00 for two is such a bargain, why can't Ryanair show that on the first screen?
And why is it OK to pay £16 for credit card charges, when you would never ever pay a credit card charge that high anywhere else. Imagine going to Tesco for a loaf of bread, that they advertise at £1.00, and then telling you that actually it will cost us £8.00 to process your payment. It's stupid. No one is saying Ryanair is expensive, just misleading.
#37
Another awesome deal... might book something for January after my trip to Rome next weekend. To the guy earlier who payed 40 quid for his flights, unlucky mate. But in future my advice is keep looking on Ryan Air, I was tempted to book something for £5 each, but now its down to a quid! These offers regularly come and go so my advice is keep looking in the future. However end of the day 40 quid still aint bad, cheaper than Manchester to London! Got my ultimate bargain a while back...2p return to Marseille all in, allowing for a week tour of Southern France :D
#38
just got newcastle to barcelona week before valentines day, 2 day two adult return for £4. no taxes. no baggage. electron card payment. voted hot.
#39
How do you do the online check in? Is it like 3 hours before you log in to a comp and check in??
banned#40
You can check in online from 5 days before hand, which is brilliant. I wish other airlines would do the same!
You must have a passport issued by an EU country though. (ie - if you have an Australian passport you can't do online check in and must pay an extra £8 is it? To check in at the airport)
