what a joke £16 to charge my Visa debit, since when has having poor credit and/or under 18 been a good thing?
banned#6
screw it I'm reporting them for false advertising says on their site "Fares include taxes, fees & charges" so what's with the £16 visa debit charge? Makes me cringe even thinking about handing money to this prat.

They don't charge you, the card company does.

No airline fees or charges are added. Thats what they handle, they cant handle the card tax.

i got charged 24 quid for 3 return flights to paris from prestwick (cant call it glasgow its nowhere near it) £4 per person per booking each way still it allcame to £80 for 3 return flights to paris beauvais (which i know is nowhere near paris) but we are going to arras for the 11th november remembrance day so its a good thing the airport is north of paris

When I go to the shop; buy some milk, bread and eggs the shop doesn't charge me £16 for the pleasure  isn't it 2.5% and they absorb the charge?

.

You can get a Travel Money Card from the post office, which is a visa electron card.

I got mine purely for booking flights with ryanair, the card works fine and saves me from the rip-off debit card fees:thumbsup:

whats the minimum deposit on the PO card?

I booked flights for the family today - 5 of us - I was charged £40 for using VISA.

Can I have some more information on this Post Office Electron Card please anybody - sounds like it might be extremely useful.

My understanding was Companies the size of Ryanair would not pay more than 2 - 3 % to Visa.

These 'hidden' costs are a b****d but I have just booked a return to Germany for 5 of us - £150 including the £40 Visa charge.

WHy not just be up front a put the cost on the flight and not a bit here and a bit there - another few quid for luggage.

Everyone now buys the privileged fast boarding thing - so that is a waste of time.

Also - can anybody explain to me what the advantages of non-allocated seats are? Or 'free seating' as they call it.

Post Office Travel Card

1.5% commission for loading Sterling (£) card, subject to a minimum fee of £3, maximum fee of £20.

Sites down just now.

£16 is their version of a stealth tax!
#18
And Debit card fees are fixed at around 35p per transaction (Not per seat per way).

So of your £16 fee for using a Visa Debit card, the card company get 35p and the airline keeps £15.65 thats fair isnt it (Have to pay for FREE flights somehow)
#19
Wow, I really can't believe that you're all complaining about this. :? A company sells flights to the other side of europe for cheaper than a half hour train journey, and you moan about them! So what if you have to use a certain type of card to get the advertised price, if you haven't got one - you lucked out, but the flights are still super cheap.

Don't knock Ryanair - where would we be without them? (Clue: stuck at home because flights are too expensive)

i love these deals, i'm off to dublin for the day saturday cost us £5 each way, and £8 to park the car so all in £28 ! thats a bargain i think, cheaper than a railcard into london ! but i have applied for an electron card so next time i can save the fees !! lol

I applied for Co op Bank CashMinder bank account ...

but still have not got my debit card F***:x:x

"Credit card this, debit card that." Yawn, yawn, yawn.

Everytime a Ryanair offer comes on here the thread is just full of people moaning about charges. Everyone knows they rip you off with your cards so don't need a dozen posts telling us. Again!

If you don't like them then simply don't bother booking with them. On the other hand if you think travelling to Europe and back for under £50 for four people is a great price and don't give a flying ____ how the money is divided between airfare, tax,cc charges and Michael O'Leary's retirement fund then go for it.
#25
can you get the travel money card in post offices or does it need to be done online?

If online how long does it normally take to get your card???

EDIT: - Found the info on thier site after looking - can get it at a foregin currency branch if you bring passport/driving licence or online takes 7 days

meclive
whats the minimum deposit on the PO card?

£50 plus £3 fee. You can shift most of the balance back to your bank account though after you've got the card because the flights become as cheap as chips since you're no longer paying the dreaded cc charges.

You also save a fortune in not having to buy so many screen wipes to clean ITS A STEALTH TAX I TELL YOU A STEALTH TAX induced spittle off your screen.
