Pocket-size superzoom with excellent video. I paid more than this for a Sony refurb.

Direct from Amazon this is a bargain.

Aahhh this or the Canon!?!??

This.

It's a better camera all-round plus it has the Multi Interface Shoe that takes external mics, OLED viewfinder, flash etc.

This is the highest-rated pocket-zoom you can buy. It's won numerous awards from industry and the press. For example:

'European Compact Camera of the Year' was won by the DSC-HX50. EISA judges commented: "The HX50 is the world's smallest compact camera with a 30x zoom lens - stretching the limits of the compact zoom segment even more. Equipped with a Sony G-class lens, the DSC-HX50 offers a great balance of worry-free point-and-shoot photography and high-level manual control and customisation."

Also remember they are reviewing it as a £300+ camera. You are paying less than half that for it.

Was tempted but read reviews about the screen being very poor in daylight.

The S120 is a completely different type of camera. This is a pocket superzoom, and great for video, the Canon is high-quality with limited zoom, great for photos.

Multi face show add on each cost more than the camera at this price. Bear that in mind if you want any of them.

techradar review lots of tech. Id look at dedicated photography sites review sections before a general tech site.

Also nearly double the price (ditto with the admittedly excellent RX100 that the feller keeps raving about - MORE than double !

what flubit please :-)

I own this camera and its great for concerts, video is awesome and doesn't distort. It has its limitations ie gets very noisey above iso800. But as a point and shoot it will suit most people. Of course a RX100 will give better image quality due to a much larger sensor. But it is twice the price and is a different category of camera. For the price the HX50 is now, it's a great deal, heat added.

flubit says gotta wait 24 hrs

What's the HD video like in normal conditions? i find my old TZ7 gives jerky/juddery movement on panning shots

That's a whole lotta features for a compact camera at this price!

]I'm not sure how you would go with that {now} as it seems to have been £20 more than what is noted and out of stock now at the Sony shop

.....but that was a great buy for a good camera with a good warranty and I would keep that one.

Yeh but the sensor is only 1/2.3 which is the same size as the Sony Xperia series. The aperture is 3.5 -6.3 and I bet it gets to 6.3 with the slightest zoom.

Not a very good camera when u look at it and the video capabilities r worse than a phone.
