S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Bundle £6.24@Steam

Steam are offering Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat as a bundle for £6.24. These are 2 of the best Open World games I have ever played. Well worth it at this price! Cheapest price for Call of Pripyat online is £9.99.

With over 2 million copies sold, the new episode of the most internationally successful S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series seamlessly connects to the first part of the Shadow of Chernobyl. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat takes PC gamers once again into the vicinity of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor that exploded in 1986. This so-called "Zone" is a highly contaminated area cordoned off by the military and now is combed through by the so-called stalkers, modern fortune hunters, in search of unique artifacts. In the role of Agent Alexander Degtyarev, who is dressed up as stalker, the player has to investigate the mysterious disappearance of five military helicopters and thereby stand one’s ground against the various stalker groups.

* One of the first DirectX11 games
* Story begins where S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl has ended
* Photorealistic exclusion Zone : All locations are recreated by their true-to-life prototypes based on photographs
* New exciting storyline with a number of unique characters
* Extended system of handmade side quests
* New monsters: Chimera and Burer. New behavior and abilities for all monsters
* New A-Life system, created using the players’ best-liked elements of the first two games in series
* Emissions considerably influence the world of the Zone
* Sleep function added into the game
* New player’s interface
* Possibility to continue the game after completion in a free play mode
* Up to 32 players can compete in the multiplayer part. Four different play modes and a countless amount of maps are available

Was just about to post this :p have some heat from me, great price for these two games.

Excellent price - just recently paid nearly double that for just Call of Pripyat

Steam continues to offer some great deals during its sales.

I only want Pripyat - can I gift Chernobyl?

Apparently not. I'm in the same boat but might still buy anyways as it woudl still be cheap just for it.

Bought Chernobyl. Couldn't get into it so cold from me.

Excellent value package. If you've got a bit of time spare then buy this quality PC gaming action/adventure pack.
#7
Already have Shadow, but will be buying the pack.
Can give the physical copy to a friend.
Heat added.

If you haven't played either of these before this is a great deal.

For Shadow of Chernobyl I would recommend downloading the "Stalker Complete 2009" mod. It fixes some bugs, makes it look pretty without altering the vanilla experience too much.
#9
Great deal, but I have to admit that I couldn't get into SoC at all.
#10
Good deal, but not really open world, as they have level loading. At least the first one does that I tried.

I love the first game and have been waiting for this for donkeys. Think this is ALOT better than the other garbage that is out there. Nothing quite like wandering around at the start when all you have is a pistol and a double barrel shotgun (which, against gaming convention is utter poop) and then you hear a pack of dogs. Good game
#12
shame they didn't include clear sky as well though :{
#13
How does the atmosphere in this compare to Fallout 3? Does it have the same post apocalyptic vibe?

Fallout 3 has humour. STALKER does not. Well, watching some hapless goon stumble into a whirligig anomaly and get turned inside out is pretty lol'ish

Ah, then you have a problem! You can't mod the Steam versions. For SOC, all the online pvp tourneys are on a different mod from the Steam version and you can't play.

I really disliked Stalker. It didn't feel like a real world. Plus considering when it was released, the graphics are pretty poor. Now graphics don't make a game, but they can detract from it. That is what happens here. Installing the graphic mod pack just makes the game incredibly dark.

You can? I installed the Stalker Complete 2009 pack.

Ah man. More money gone.

Looks a good deal, i was a couple of days ago considering buying Call of Pripyat loyalty edition of impulse for £12.83, but at this price it is well worth it, even though i already own the original.
#22
Odd to include the 1st and 3rd games in the trilogy, but not the 2nd.

Certainly good value, even though I already own Shadow of Chernobyl.

This is just a promotion for Call of Pripyat - they will have thrown in SoC presumably because hardly anybody buys it these days, so it costs Valve/GSC nothing to include it in the promotion ... Clear Sky wasn't included, probably because people are still buying it.

Guess this deal has ended now?

Shame - I really enjoyed the original game, it was way better than Fallout 3 in my unusual opinion.
Would have loved to check out Pripyat at a bargain price, I'll hang on for another month or two and see if it comes down in price again.
