if you have a lump sum santander is probably a better deal

its not 5%, its 4%, regular saver meaning that even if if you put the full whack in (15 grand) as you stagger it monthly you will get about 300 quid interest, which is 2% over the duration of the year

if you have a 15k lump sum you can stick it santander at 3%, get 450 quid for the year, after 20% take you have 360, after 24 quid monthly charge you have 336

also the max interest is stated which is : Assuming you make the maximum payment of £1,250 on the seventh day of each month for the full term you will receive approximately £329 gross.

new rules dont come until july 1st either, so not sure if this can be done yet either

July 1st is just three months away so 3*1250 = £3750 is still below the current limit. iN july they will automatically convert it to NISA so the limit will automatically increase to £15,000.

We define our 'members' as anyone who has held a minimum balance of £100 with the Society for 12 months or more consistently in a personal savings account. Members also include our mortgage customers with over £100 on loan for at least the last 12 months consistently.

might not be easy to get this..
