I have a Sagem TopUpTV/Freeview box that looks identical to the one above but does not have the hard drive. I `upgraded` to it after previously having a non-topuptv Echostar box.
I have to say the Echostar was far superior and I am sorry I got rid of it. The Sagem box has a poor layout on its menus in terms of showing programme listings, it also frequently crashes and the sound on ITV2, ITV3 and some other channels has just disappeared!.
Anyhoo, I would be interested to see if this other model is any better, but I would expect most TVs will (within the next few years) have integrated digital reception and hard drives as standard anyway.

P.S. Let me know what you think of the Sagem if you buy one!

Anyone know of a pvr with a slot for a card for setanta?

Was looking at one of these but it came too late. Went instead for a Sony Dual Tuner for £100.49 at Sainsburys in Lee Green. Would have taken it back as it dropped the EPG but they did an over the air download last week, and it works a treat, whisper quiet etc.. Am a bit miffed that it may have the Sony name but it is a Digifusion underneath.

Hi, This is a good price for a Twin-Tuner Freeview PVR with 160Gb HDD and it's available on the high-street from Argos. Voted hot.

A couple of reviews here ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sagem-62160SL-T-Freeview-160Gb-Tuner/dp/B000LPR0ZW

Apparently they say that it can't record two channels concurrently.

Hi, Think that Argos need to amend the product description as it's misleading claiming that it does record two channels concurrently. Was considering buying one of these to replace an MD PVR-100. Can't afford to buy a Humax or Topfield.

Thank you for the feedback on this product though as would have otherwise assumed that it does indeed record two channels concurrently.

Did a Google search on this particular PVR last night and couldn't find a lot other than price comparison sites that were pointing towards Argos.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk. Does anyone know of any URLs for this product on AV/PVR forums at all please?.

Edit: Managed to find some Twin-Tuner PVR DVB-T Receivers on the Sagem web-site. Didn't realise was under Broadband Devices/Digital Set top boxes. Guess that this is the URL for the nearest equivalent product that they manufacture (with 80Gb HDD as opposed to 160Gb HDD). Thought would post as might be of interest to others considering buying one of these from Argos. As others have said on this thread the 62160SL-T isn't able to record on two tuners concurrently but one tuner only. Still a good price for £99.99 though I'd have thought.

Manufacturers URL:-

Thank you.

Does anyone know how sensitive the tuner is on this Sagem? I live in a poor signal area and the landlord won't upgrade the aerial. I've tried an Alba STB and it gets some channels but a lot are pixellated etc.

What software version have you got? According to this threadhttp://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=513402 the box can dual record.

If it can £99 is a very good value for 160GB but there seems to be reliability and support issues after sale. I recently returned new humax pvr as it had a noisy fan, can you confirm if that box is noisy or not? I don't want another pc in the room

I guess one could order it online and return it, if not happy, within 7 days under 'distance selling' rules.

It does record two channels at once, i.e. if going out and need two record two different channel s this can be done, also if you watching a earlier recording, you can record two channels as it has a twin reciever built in. Want you can also do is record two channels whilist watching one of them. I hope this helps. I Think this piece of equipment £99.00 from argos is well worth the money and would recomend.

if you are looking for a decent sub £100 twin tuner 160gb pvr that is freeview playback ready and can record 2 channels at once then you cant go wrong with Asdas On box, its really a digifusion and if you get the new model which was released in july/aug then it will record 2 at once. if you do go for it look at the sticker on the side it will say T816. At least with Asda they have better returns.
