Quite possibly if they stock this item. Worth a check if you're after a freeview box.

Would be great if anyone else who spots this can post on here.

I cancelled my Setanta subscription last month after they decided to hike up the prices. Now all I get is endless phone calls & leaflets through the door begging me to come back to them. Word of warning to anyone thinking of subscribing, they make it as difficult as possible to cancel with them and have now increased the notice period to 60 days.
#11
Is this not just a cheap freeview box? When I got my Thomson pVR I just didn't register for top up,but I have a machine I can insert a card for the future
#12
How much do they charge now?
#13
Reviews seem to indicate this only does now & next, so no 7day EPG, so will have to give this a miss, but thanks anyway!
#14
I agree - Setanta are awful in terms of customer service. Really, really awful.

Time they got off terrestrial tv anyway they we'd actually have room for more free HD channels
#15
Heard a lot of people talk about bother with leaving Setanta myself., but it's a necessary evil for watching my team.

How much do they charge? - Using Setanta by broadband, £80 a year.

Setanta are evil? - £80 per year works out at £6.66 per month ;)

A tenner does seem good for a box AND a month of sport though - Voted hot.

It's just when you want to cancel, no replies to e-mail, high cost of phoning when you get through, waiting for call back that never happens, tell you you need to write to them ha ha, sit down to watch the fight at 3.00am, no service, no goodwill jesture..............just cancel DD

Same here, they have to be one of the worst companies i have ever dealt with. Deal is hot for the price but please do not get involved with Subscriptions at all.

DISGRACE OF A COMPANY.

COWBOYS AND CON MEN.

Taken two months out of my CC account ILLEGALY after me cancelling. There's no way I'm getting that money back. Sent them a letter - "didn't get it", sent them a recorded letter - "got it late".

Friend cancelled DD - know they're hounding him with debt letters.

Picture quality is **** compared to SKY, as is the coverage. No HD Picture, no 5.1 sound. RUBBISH.

I'd rather just get SKY and watch the Setanta matches via internet streams, it's easy enough.

BE VERY CAREFUL.

SCUM SCUM SCUM.

I will 2nd, 3rd......100th the sentiments posted above. Complete farce of a company and the sooner they go bust the better.
#20
I would buy a Setanta box if it was FREE !!

I echo ALL bad reviews posted above - the WORST company i have EVER dealt with, im gobsmacked that the authorities havent shut them down yet...Shame really, because it IS a really good product.
#21
Strange, they also sell a CD by Ian Walker called Setanta at the same price! Item/pricing error?:-D
#22
I have now threatened Setanta with taking them to court for harassment, they lied to me on the phone and then made it very difficult for me to get out of the monthly contract. I still receive phone calls, mailings and e mails. I am now gathering evidence together as they are insisting i owe them £9.99. I cancelled the direct debit and told them i had never agreed to pay £9.99 a month never mind the latest fee of £12.99. I told them to listen to to the telephone tapes as i know they lied to me. I also got sick of the 0871 number, on hold for 30 minutes sometimes and then amazingly cut off..NASTY NASTY COMPANY. PLEASE AVOID !!!!!!!

This persons words may seem strong but I honestly can not agree enough with his sentiments, Setanta are quite simply the worst company I have EVER dealt with.

When I was a subscriber it took me SIX MONTHS to cancel with them despite there apparantly being no minimum contract, when I first phoned to cancel they told me I had to give 30 days notice when I told them no I dont as you advertise as no minimum contract they responded with "but you still have to give 30 days notice" I stated that they are falsely advertising a no minimum contract policy when there surely is a 30 day minimum contract, I was told it is not a contract its a subscription!! Figure that one out because I couldnt, whats the difference between a contract and a subscription?

After this every time I spoke to them they would tell me on the phone "Yes Sir thats it all cancelled now, no further payments will come out of your account" but lo and behold payments kept coming out of my account even two payments in one month. Each time I called to ask them for a refund I was told there had been a computer glitch but when I asked for a refund I was told it was not possible and they would give me "Free" months viewings instead to cover the money they had taken.

I then finally assumed I had got it all cancelled after 4 months when I then received a "Welcome to Setanta Sports" letter stating that my 1st payment would be due next month when I phoned Setanta to ask what it was all about I was told there had been another computer glitch which had set up another account for me in error and to just ignore it, ignore it I did yet surprise surprise another payment was taken from my account, when I phoned them again to ask what the hell was going on and to tell them I wanted it cancelling immediately and a refund given I was told that I would have to give 30 days notice despite the fact I had already given them the best part of 150 days notice!

I know people will say I should have just cancelled my DD but there are consequences to doing so as it affects your credit rating, the current credit crunch makes things hard enough as it is without lowering my credit score by cancelling DDs.

When it was finally cancelled I sent them a letter of complaint requesting a refund of monies that were illegally taken from my account and I also included a copy of my phone bill to request a refund of the ridiculous costs I had incurred by having to phone them constantly (one of the calls was 1hr 45 mins long and cost me just over £10), their response? We have reviewed your case and have found that no refund is due.......WHAT A SURPRISE! After this I contacted Watchdog and left the above details, this is the 1st and only time I have done this about any company as I am far from your average consumer moaner, I urge anyone who has had similar problems with this shambles of a company to do the same and hopefully some action will be taken and this company will be put out of business!

In short while this may seem an incredible deal I assure you that you will be opening the biggest can of worms in your life!!

STAY CLEAR all the people who have posted comments can not be wrong can they?

Wow, I’ve never seen so many negative feelings expressed about a company. Has anyone started an I Hate Setanta Website yet?
I was going to buy a Cam and Card package but I’m really not sure I want to risk the hassle.

Consumer power, got to love it.

Just get Virgin Media with Setanta Sports channels.

I just tried adding Setanta Sports to a VM 3 for £20 package and the monthly cost jumps to £49 which is only £5 less than if you add the complete Sports Package which includes Sky Sports 1 to 3 plus Setanta Sports.
It should only be £10 more so it’s either a glitch or they don’t want to sell you Setanata cheaply in conjunction with a 3 for £20 deal; the former I assume.

thought it should be £39 ?

thought it should be £39 ?

It’s £20 for TV, broadband and a phone line with Setanta being an extra tenner so it should be £30.
I’m paying VM £17 for Medium broadband and unlimited UK calls 24/7 so with Medium TV being free I should be able to get Setanta added to my package for an extra £10 in theory
But a TV service without a PVR is useless to me so I’d need to pay an extra £5 a month for the V+ box with installation being £75 to £150.
Whereas I already have a Humax PVR which allows me to buy a Setanta CAM/Card package for ~£25 which works out a lot cheaper. But I’d probably need the money saved for phone bills and legal fees when cancelling the package. :w00t:

Despite the numerous problems with VM and their billing system, the value of the service I get is better than anything out there. I sympathise with all those who have gona through such ordeal to have their account cancelled but sometimes you have to flex your muscles a little bit harder to get things done. I get Setanta free as part of my package but had things gone so far, I would have been hell bent on getting them to refund every single penny I would have unneccessarily spent on them. Consumer direct is a very good place to start with.
VM should not be put in the same bracket as Setanta.

I agree as I’ve found VM to be fine which is why I used allegedly in my reference.
