Totally agree. Check the prices at other retailers before you buy.

online is better than instore-some stuff may be "overpriced" but big stuff like the sylvanian hotels/houses and disney things are well worth having in this sale-all the sylvanian stuff last year online was GENUINE half price. The stores only have limited space on shelves-the way to get the best from this half price sale is online, not fighting in the aisles of your local shop.remember EVERY single toy they have online now will be half price-nobody does a sale like this-asda and tesco buy in all their "half price" stock.you can literally save hundreds of pounds if you use the website.

Does anybody know what time it goes live online?

Thats great, but come the start of the sale, all the Toy Story 3 stuff will be seriously 'Sorry, out of stock...'

at lunchtime the day BEFORE the sale, put all the stuff you want in your basket, then jump online just after midnight, refresh basket and it will go to half price-thats what I did last year.
#13
Will it stay in your basket for that long?

Will give this a try - I did it with the M&S sale with items I had already added to basket and got delivery to store too!

Anyone know of any Sainsbury free delivery codes? My local store isn't included in the click and collect scheme. And, last year wasn't there free delivery for £50/60 plus spend at Sainsburys sale time?...
#23
oh crap, I've known about this for over 2 weeks. never mind, I can't wait for the opening :)

Is the info about it online anywhere, or is this just insider info?

I went to the store last year on the second day and the shelves were empty apart from a number of things which were clearly overpriced, even with the discount. Bought a couple of stocking fillers but it was poor pickings, so anyone planning a store trip probably wants to be queueing at the door when it starts!! (or go in the day before, pick the things you want, and stash them somewhere nobody will look, like behind the gherkins or at the bottom of a freezer!!)

will give a go

Cool.

Good offers last year

Can I ask op where you got your info from?

The problem with this is that there is not enough space nor staff to keep the toys well replenished during the day. I remember last year when we ran this offer we had 2 people during the day constantly working ONLY the toys. They sold out so fast (bearing in mind there are only 2 aisles of toys in our huge store and 30+ people at any one time trying to get to them) that they weren't able to get them on the shelves fast enough. Then to make it worse they were constantly getting asked by customers "do you have any more of [x] toy?" so they were forever going back and forth between the warehouse looking and never actually got a chance to put anything out.

We are trialling something different in our store this year to alleviate this problem but there's no guarantee it will work. The toy sale always brings mayhem, your best bet is to come in first thing in the morning after it has been freshly replenished by the night shift if your store has one (again we will be having night staff dedicated to working only the toys) and get your stuff then. There was a day last year I came into work and the traffic was queued back about half a mile trying to get in the store, mostly people just trying to buy toys. It is mayhem.

#34

I went to my local 24hr sainsburys last year at the stroke of midnight and it was empty - half prices stickers werent even up yet and staff were clueless - got quite a few bits, then came home and saw it was online, so got even more. this year i plan to be ready to go at midnight and check online before i leave the house - hopefuly it does go online.

Hope it's better than the Tosco toy sale where half the products have never been seen anywhere let alone been at "Full Price"
#38
For those saying their stuff was overpriced last year that is not true! The prices were the same as anywhere else, I remember getting quite a bit of the WWE and Star Wars Lego, couldn't believe I was getting it for half the price compared with other shops.....and believe me I always do my research, If you mean that the toys are overpriced in general then I agree with you, but there was little or no difference in prices from the likes of Argos, Tesco, Asda etc.
#39
Just been on the site to see what they have and nothing coming up. Is it just me or is the toy part not working?
#40
Toys are all working for me x

Just logged in to see if my basket is still the same and now I cant get into Toys section x
