Looking for a dose of cooking inspiration but want to keep your
shopping bill down? Over the next few weeks we’ll show you how
to serve up five delicious dinners that the whole family is sure to
love, and all for just £20.

There are two plans up at the moment:

Plan 1:
Saucy meatballs with rice
Sausage hotpot
Creamy spinach & bacon pasta
Tasty chicken casserole
Tuna pasta bake

Plan 2:
Cottage pie
Thai green chicken curry with rice
Chilli con carne & wedges
Salmon & courgette pasta
2 salami & mushroom pizzas

You can print off each plan with the appropriate shopping list and you don't necessarily have to go to Sainsbury's and price around at other competing supermarkets.

If you are either after different recipes or simply want to cut costs on dinner time meals, this seems like a good deal.

Happy Eating!

We've already tried the pizza recipe in Plan 2, however, because none of my children like mushrooms, I substituted these for a small can of Green Giant sweetcorn with peppers in it (near enough the same price as the mushrooms would have been) - children loved them. Will be picking up Plan 1 at the supermarket tomorrow - these Plans are available free of charge (in a booklet format) at Sainsburys - with all the ingredients required priced up on them.

By the time you've paid for just the pizza bases and salami you may as well have bought one of their ready made ones (_;)

a few of the ingredients is for their 'Basic's range which in general tastes like ****

What are you getting here? £20 worth of ingredients? :|

You have to pick and choose where you make your economy selections, even with these plans there's room for manoeuvre, great post op!

I bought both weeks worth of food in an online shop yesterday.
Tonight, I cooked the Thai Green Curry. Delicious, however I did not enjoy the free slug that came out of the basics Broccoli florets oO

Not being funny, but why is this a deal as all the food is at normal price, just they are showing you how to put it together into a meal.

This is no similar to Sainsburys meal cards such as 'feed your family for a fiver' which have been going years - the same as for other supermarkets.

Have just finished eating the cottage pie from plan2 5mins ago. Delicious.

Have done all of plan 2 so far except thai curry (which we're having tomorrow). So far everything has been fairly tasty and easy even for a beginner chief like myself to cook. I felt a few bits like the chilli were a bit basic in flavour - but nothing adding a few extra spices cant sort (i advise cumin and black pepper). The salmon and corgette pasta was particularly delicious, although did not keep very well in the fridge for leftovers.

Bring on plan 1 X)

I have had years of living on a budget and guarantee I can provide 10 family meals for £20.00 - it's hardly rocket science, just involves some good choices when shopping, and I can assure you every meal is nutritious, filling and delicious.
