Why worry even it it is, even the best sausages are cased in intestines & it's hardly a perfumed rose garden up there!

Unlike true discount supermarkets, which usually don't sell anything this cheap and nasty; mainstream supermarkets trying to be one up on the discounters on price don't sell reasonable products cheap in these ranges they just sell crap, cheap, and rarely are any of them worth wasting the wrapping on. Unfortunately :-(

I didn't think intestine sausage skin was allowed anymore?

Thank god i don't eat meat....only the fellas :)

Oh I am sure they will be paying some Eastern European £5.50 an hour to catch rats for popping in the Lasagne. :whistling:

At that rate it would be about £21 each, not 21p!

Where did you get that idea?
I don't know of ANY truly vegetarian casing, they are all from animal origin.

Cheap sausages usually only have "synthetic" collagen skins, but they are from animal products anyway. Better ones usually still use real casings, as do the best continental sausages.

It has been working pretty well for the last few thousand years!

Have you never thought that vegetables are grown with the assistance of?.....CRAP?

I remember years ago, when bacteriological tests on Donner kebabs were coming out as rather poor, and too highly contamionated with E. coli organisms despite improving food handling techniques, the poor reults continued.... it turned out to be contamination from the SALAD!

The alternative is to become paranoid, which thanks to the likes of the Daily Mail, many people have become :-(

Indeed. "Enrivonmental Health Officer: Infact, it won't kill you, and won't do you any real harm either" just doesn't sell as a headline. People are determined to prove that some foods are better than others and all its doing is creating a market for designer/eco/posh foods...
#32
These are 21p in Tesco too. Ok for a quick snack if you haven't got a brain, I mean a lot of penny's. No actually I have tried the Tesco ones and they are what you expect for 21p.

Yes. Rubbish. The cheese sauce is watery and it's just crap. I guess if you're really hard up you could stock up on these and they wont kill you, but...

21p in Tesco's too.

So long as it's edible, Who really cares? 21p

If your want a proper lasagne make one yourself,

Even the premium ones probably contain bits that if you knew what they were you wouldn't eat, although I'm sure will be tastier.

I personally don't really care if they contain rats or other animal parts etc...

So long as they taste ok and don't do no harm then fine.
#37
Yes its Lasagne Wars at the mo, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury selling their cheapo one for less than they cost to make. No, they are not great but with a bit of salad and some decent mayo its better than nowt and the Tesco one is only beef.
#38
They actually arent that bad but very sloppy and look like they have a few pence worth of meat, I like them as I like pasta so I mostly eat the pasta and see the rest as sauce.
#39
Ive not tried these or real the label. If you want cheap just go for the £1 ones they have frozen (4 for £3) its more 1 person quantity than these. The meat is fine. The only thing is that the beef is from Ireland or Brazil. not sure how import is regulated there. Ive had them over the years and im still alive. Now adays Ive just decided to get the Chicken hot pots instead it says 80% chicken on those and they taste good.

Thanks op, these will make good dog-food (I kid you not) ..as a supplemental winter treat for our boxers..

We used to feed em a raw meat diet, but the amount left was ridiculous, now cheaper to buy pigs liver from tesco's (spits) or similar, & cook it up in milk & garlic saving us around £1.20 per day in raw meat, perfect for out hounds! .
