Sainsbury's Life insurance (provided by Legal and General) can help protect your family or your mortgage from only £5 a month and if you take out a policy online by 14th July 2008, you'll receive a £50 Sainsbury's voucher

I think this may have been posted before but it looks like they have just re-launched with a new, improved incentive. I took this out last month when it was 3000 nectar points (£15) so I obviously wish I had waited! C'est la vie!

Add in the £80 you get for going through quidco and thats effectively £130 cashback.

I obviously wouldn't condone abuse of such offers (!) but even if you kept the insurance for a year you could in effect get free insurance and up to £70 in you pocket....

Just got a quote for life insurance
The minimum term is 2 years
If you apply for family cover on a single policy with a payout of £40750 it works out at £5 per month.
I think thats the cheapest you can go.
You are still paying £120 over 2 years but gettin back £130 in vouchers and quidco,so quite a good deal
Suppose u could always try n cancel after u get the vouchers and quidco
Cheers OP
#4
Do you have to keep it with them for the minimum term years you select or is it a yearly thing???
#5

"For level life cover, the term of the plan can be from 1 to 40 years."

I assume that means it's possible to get a 1 year policy.

You decide how long you want the cover for.

For Level Term Assurance the term of the plan can be from 1 to 40 years* and the plan must end by age 70 next birthday. However, the plan can last beyond your 70th birthday if the term is 10 years or less.

*If a one year term is chosen then the Terminal Illness Cover will not apply.

For Decreasing Term

Won't let me choose one year tho.

Term cover isn't the "minimum" length of the policy it's the maximum length.

i.e. If you are 30 years old and take out a 40 year term policy, then the premiums will be fixed for 40 years, and based on the risk of you dieing before 70. If you take out a 5 year term, then the risk is based on dieing before 35 so much lower!

Looking at the T&Cs, you can cancel (at any time) by giving written notice, and if you cancel your Direct Debit, cover will stop after 30 days.

You should budget for a mimimum of 3 months worth of premiums to be taken before cancelling though, and IMHO 12 months cover would be less abusive!

I actually need life insurance, but have to check out providers too. Quote for what I want is in the ball park but maybe not the cheapest in the long run even with quidco and voucher. Might take it up and cancel if I can get a better quote elsewhere for what I need.

its outright abuse of quidco like you lot are advocating that will end it all for the rest of us.

What? If they want to pay it then let them! If they didn't want people to do this then they'd tie you in for longer or pay less quidco!

Are you sure you'll get the £80 voucher - it clearly states on the site not to be used in conjunction with any other offer. I made the mistake of signing up to a site for £20 cashback but in the process missed out on a free ipod because the 2 offers were independent. I'd proceed with caution.

Quidco operates differently, it comes from an advertising budget rather than promotions.

Same way as you can sign up for quidco and still get £xxx in free bets on gambling websites.

I think they are saying, if Sainsburys notice they have got loads more applications than antisipated they may investigate what affiliate was used and then use the clause that is no doubt in there 'not to be used with any other offer'. Unlikely maybe, but like they say - abuse may lead to cancelation. There is never a risk free investment, no such thing as free money etc [in other words].

Always dangerous cancelling before Quidco pays as well.

That's why someone said do at least 3 months!
#21
Just applied, will probably stay with them anyway as they are half the price I was paying with my previous insurer.

However just thought I'd mention that you don't you seem to need your mortgage account number which I was struggling with as it's at home, thought I'd see how far i could get without it and before i knew it I was done, policy purchased, unless I missed it of course !:?

Having said that the final page did say they were off to confirm a few things before they'd issue the policy, but not to worry apparently !

Thanks to the op, heat+rep added of course !
#22
i did this while ago and got my quidco all cleared and vouchers after a month
#23
Anyone else having problems accessing the sainsbury's site via Quidco - it keeps sending me to a blank page?
#24
Seems a good deal to me, I need short term life cover for a mortgage and got a policy quote for £5.16 over a 5yr period. Thanks

i suggest you have a read of this

http://www.quidco.com/etiquette/

particularly;

"The Quidco cooperative concept also means that it is not every member for themselves. The actions of an individual can affect the entire group and in some cases spoil things for everyone. Being a part of Quidco is understanding that you are a part of the whole and you have responsibility towards all the other members. Please do not abuse the merchant programs or attempt to create fraudulent or deceitful transactions"

It is my clear view that you are operating in contravention to this etiquette.

Dont abuse Quidco like this , if you do need life insurance take it out but if you only cancel after you get payment from Quidco , then Quidco may consider this abuse and close your account if you do it often with various insurances like this and also sainsburys may stop this cashback & spoil it for other people :x

A word of caution before you search for the cheapest deal - it's not always the best.

Ensure you read the T&Cs carefully to ensure you get adequate cover, it's very, very important.

i did this while ago and got my quidco all cleared and vouchers after a month so now will cancel

It's pikeys like you who ruin it for others
#29
Just applied...Thanks OP. It was the kick up the bum I needed as I have stuck with the Mortgage protection offered initially 7 years ago and this is half the cost! Fingers crossed for Quidco....
#30
and if you die in the next three months your family will be quids in :-)
#31
Ok, I actually need to get some life cover cos I've just bought a house - but I've just tried to apply and it seems you have to be 29 or over ??
Whats the deal with that?!

What an awful thing to say!
If everyone here abused this deal by taking out insurance and then dying, the company would go broke and there'd be one less Quidco deal for the rest of us. Shame on you.
#33
recently got quote on-line, 4 companys £5.00 to £5.25 with a set up fee of £25.00. same quote from sainsburys £10.18, no critical cover with above but sainsburys do say no extra charge for this, so for me - on line quote total £385.00 inc set up
sainsburys quote £603.00 inc quidco and vouchers.
this is for morgage joint life cover over 6 years.
#34
Thanks very much, just signed up.

£42000 cover, 5 year term, £5.06 pmonth

Effectively 2 years free insurance!
#35
Not sure why anyone would want to cancel it!

If they have insurance already then this is possibly a better deal so cancel the other one and make some savings.

If they don't have life insurance (but have family) then the they certainly should have some if it's effectively free!
#36
life insurance kills

how many murders have been for money and greed and been linked to life insurance!

it should be banned!

what a stupid thing to say, how many people actually abuse life insurance policies from the numbers that take them out? If your other half becomes ill or worse then you are left to pay a mortage on half a household income (if of course you have two household works like that)...thats if you are not joking...???

Anyway this deal is about £20 cheaper than my current one, shall investigate further...although I am with l&g just now, so not sure how much saving there will actually be when the deal is done.

thanks

I need insurance anyway and will certainly be signing up for this later.

You're right, maybe we all need to agree that only some of us take advantage of the death part so that Quidco is protected :-D
