Good price, good reviews and high enough power, perfect replacement to my old rusting Sharp in the Kitchen. Cheers.

Can anyone who has this tell me what the interior finish is? We have one that has some kind of enamel and it's coming off after a couple of years and rusting away!

That is quite a common fault, usually its combination ovens that has a stainless steel interior, though if you hunt round you may find a standard one with a S/S inside we had a Delonge from Argos that looked just like this one that had it. edit in fact i think this is the same one with different knobs so it should have a SS interior. it does have some quirks the quick cook jumps in one minute intervals i think should be 30 sec if you set it the normal way you have to push the buttons twice or you end up adjusting the power not the time also the bulb is not user replaceable the machine has to be stripped down and it has anti tamper screws so you cant do it yourself with out a special tool, ours blew after 2 weeks.

I'm sure you meant De'Longhi.

If you can be bothered, buy another one for £40 & use the old £50 receipt return the new cheaper one.

people are dumb. they can't tell the difference. I've seen this microwave (99% sure it was this model) in my local Sains and it had painted interior.

if it had stainless steel interior, I'd buy it even at 50 quid.

Kunyk I'm getting a complex now..... a couple of the reviewers also said it had a S/S interior ...can any one confirm this?

Quote from review page.....
Stainless steel was the plus factor in this purchase. The usual cheaper brands at the same price have plastic interiors which melt. Easy to use and is great defrosting and cooking meals when in a rush. Great value with all the upgrades. I would defo recommend this product to a friend.

I would want to know that for sure too.

the thing is - paint the plastic interior with stainless steel color imitation and most people would still think they're getting SS interior.

Which Best Buy

Supermarket chain Sainsbury's may not be the first name you think of when buying a microwave oven, but we wanted to find out whether the reasonably priced Sainsburys Stainless Steel 20 L microwave could cook and defrost as well as the more expensive brands. We tested this freestanding microwave alongside other solo ovens in the lab - read on to find out how well it compares, and whether you should pop one into your trolley next time you're out shopping.

Despite its budget price tag, this solo microwave oven from Sainsbury's impressed our experts in the Which? test lab so much that we've rated it as a Best Buy. It's extremely energy efficient, reheats and defrosts food evenly, and boasts several useful features.

Good for reheating and defrosting

Cooking on full power is very quick, and this oven delivers moist dishes that are piping hot, in less time than many of its rivals.

Defrosting is just as impressive, so whether you set the time and power yourself or input the weight and use the auto-defrost program, you'll be rewarded with evenly defrosted food. We tested it with a slab of frozen mince on both settings and the results were good each time.

Microwave cooking is already an efficient way of cooking, but this model is even more efficient than most, which is great news if you want to cut down on your energy usage.

Automatic cooking

This Sainsbury's model boasts a surprising number of features for an own-brand microwave, so you won't have to miss out on a quick-start button or automatic cooking programs. You'll find auto-reheat settings for a couple of microwave favourites such as pizza and soup, as well as auto-cook options for potatoes, vegetables, meat, fish and pasta.

What's more, you can set the oven in advance using the delayed start, or use multi-step programming - useful if you want to defrost a meal gently before cooking it at a higher power level.

However, we didn't find the controls very intuitive to use, so you'll probably want to keep the instruction manual handy until you get used to the programming sequence.

Metal parts are hard to clean

The stainless steel exterior looks great but it's not the easiest to keep clean, so you'll need to polish away greasy fingerprints regularly to keep it looking smart. Cleaning is made more irksome and time consuming because there are gaps around the control buttons and ventilation holes that may need special attention to prevent dirt collecting in the crevices.

Pros: Excellent defrosting, excellent energy efficiency, good microwave heating, delayed start, multi-step cooking

Cons: Stainless steel exterior is hard to polish

Just ordered and hoping that all is good but from what I read then seems a good deal x

Bought ours over a year ago. It's worked fine until recently when it started to make a rather alarming crackling noise whenever it was switched on (without actually operating it). Going to replace it though definitely not with the same model. oO

Had mine for less than a year and the magnetron failed - not worth replacing so have bought a different branded one
