100 gram bag of Tortilla chips for only 18p

I am not a major 'basic' fan but spotted these to try. I have had them a few times now and they are yummy...Put some of the more expensive brands to shame

Asda and Tesco both do these too for a similar price

Oh. I buy these in bulk for parties. I make an excellent nacho bake.

recipe -

Sainsburys basic tortillas (or any.)
Stagg Silverado Chili (or any again really.)
Morrisons dipping Salsa (love this brand personally)

basically scatter loads of the chips in a deep baking tray.
Scoop on some silverado chili in different parts of it. You can spread it throughout as well.
Do the same with the salsa.
repeat with another layer of each, and finish with a top layer of tortillas.

Bake for about half an hour.

Utterly awesome. It's a huge hit at house parties :P

Good price, but is it really a 'deal' to post something which is available all the time at the same price? Are these "on offer"?
#8

you're welcome to come! I'm girlfriendless now after a fight and I need a wonder woman! haha.

Not getting bottomy about it - just think this site should be about special offers, reductions, etc, not letting people know there are 10p packets of crisps in supermarkets.

but surely a true 'deal' is when you feel as a consumer you are getting real value for money....you cant just pick every product thats a low price i agree with that , But sometimes there are things that arent 'on offer' or 'reduced' in price yet are still a good deal

Yes, but as I keep saying, in my opinion that's not really what this site is about. That's all I'm getting at. :) Your post has some heat, so obviously some people like it!

I get the tesco value ones for 18p and they are very good, I imagine these are from the same makers as the tesco ones. HOT SALSA.
#17

They are always this price - in fact they were 16p a while ago, but have gone up like everything else
#21
Might be a standard deal @ 0.18p - but look at the scrap it is causing...:whistling:
Hot for me....
#22
These things are utterly disgusting, they turn into mush if you dare cook with them.

These are DOG AWFUL....actually, they could well be dog biscuits? :-D

But for that price who can complain?..you get what ya pay for and as long as you expect the worst then you'll be ok
#26
I bought 5 packets of these last night and they are great!! Sod forking out the big money for the big names when these taste great and a fraction of the price - granted you need to buy a few packets to make up the same quantity as the bigger name packets but still........... Go get yourself some!! Not sure why I am so excited out some crisps but hey!!
#27
In this time of "credit crunch", even a great tasting cheap bag of tortillas is a deal.
Some people may think they must be nasty for 18p, but these are great, they are definite deal to me when Doritos are uber pricey!
#28
In some way's this is not a "deal" as has been argued it is the standard price and not only that but other stores have similar products at the same price. However Basics can be rubbish and so it's useful info to find out that this particular basics product is a good one. In that sense this is a deal that I'm happy to find out about. So now it's a lot cheaper to get fat :)

A favourite quick meal for 2 is a packet of cooked microwave american long grain rice into two dishes, add a tin of cooked Stagg chilli, top with tortilla chips and top with grated cheese (a medium cheddar is nice) microwave for 60 - 90 secs Enjoy!!

A lot of the cheaper branded items like tesco value come out of the same factory as the premium branded items.

Ingedients are the same, the only difference is the packaging.

Trust me, these are NOT the same as the more expensive tortillas...far from it
#31
These are really nice and a brilliant bargain for 18p they are HOT!

Not everyone can afford to buy Doritos when they want a nice snack....

Nobody cares, they're cheap.
#33
Same price (if not a penny cheaper) for the same kind of item through Tesco - had a bag last week, nice corn flavor.
