Sainsburys have a pretty rare deal on their Basics range - wholemeal bread is now three for £1.20 - this works out at 40p a loaf. It's a long while since I can remember brown bread being this cheap other than short dated loaves.
Offer is online and instore, small SEL and plenty of stock in all my local stores.
The bread itself is actually pretty nice - quite big bits of grain give it a texture almost like a softer granary loaf. It's certainly no artisan loaf but for less than 2p a slice it makes a great sandwich or toast.
47p in Tescos and Asda and in my view (and the reviews on Dooyou and Ciao) this is nicer anyway.http://www.ciao.co.uk/Sainsburys_basics_wholemeal_bread__Review_5879154
Just remember not to waste food - it freezes well and you can remove slices when you need them if you don't use much bread.
Hope that helps someone!
