Well I think more meat eaters should try vegetarian foods. Deplete the food supply.......:whistling::w00t::lol:

why oh why do we continue to fight nature. Humans are omnivores, we have been designed over hundreds of thousands of years to eat meat as well as veg. If we did not breed animals for food, they would have no life at all. As i see it we are doing the chickens / pigs / cows etc. a favour.
#7
Why do people have such a problem with veggies? Who cares what other people eat?
#8
It's a shame heavy red meat eaters have higher heart disease and cancer rates.

I only started on veggie stuff last year, cutting down on beef/lamb/pork more fish/chicken/veg and I'm glad I have.

PS: The Quorn roast is very good too, but there is alot of rubbish veggie stuff out there, fresh stir fries can't be beaten over processed stuff though.

ITS NOT NATURAL! you probably think we should not mix human and animal dna to find cures for diseases. if so, the principle that its not natural also applies to veggies.

since when have chickens and fish been classified as vegetables?
#11
I never said I was a veggie :)

As in started eating veggie specialised stuff, meat free etc.

OH used to love the Linda McCartney sausage rolls but haven't seen them for ages, anyone seen them around lately?

But chickens and fish have flesh. At least true veggies have a moral (if skewed) reason for doing it.

your just playing at it. I don't like the taste of cheese so i don't eat it. If you don't like the taste of beef, say so. If you do, eat it. Just don't be a pseudo veggie.

III. Trolling, Trolls:

* Trolls are people who for no reason want to disrupt a forum topic by constantly posting out of context posts, derogatory comments, throwing insults, making personal attacks and deliberately inciting a negative response from other members. This is called trolling; in public forums and won't be tolerated here.
* Users or groups of users who continue to attack other members because of their views and opinions, attempting to beat them down or demean them, will have posts deleted and may be banned.

How many people eat Tiger, or Panda, or Monkey etc, those animals are still around arent they???

I am vegetarian, I dont try to stop other people eating meat, as long as they dont try to make me eat it.

To repeat, I'm not a veggie, I just started to reduce my red meat intake have more fish/chicken/meat free stuff instead.

I still have beef etc, just not as much.

Psuedo veggie? What?

I didn't realise my diet required a Thesis to explain away you seem to believe people are on one side of the veggie line or the other, I'm straddling it and make no apologies for it.

I don't see how such a antagonistic attitude contributes really...

Diplodocus was a veggie, still put weight on and later died :-D
#21
Jeez, you try to have a bit of fun with the veggies and everyone jumps on my case. why does everyone take life so seriously.

If you like it, do it. If not, don't.

i was only pointing out the fact that vegitarianism goes against nature. If your happy to live with that then fine but please don't try to convert those of us who do just what we were designed to do.

I'm for freedom of speech, but there's a difference between that and deliberate incitement. If a veggie had come on here screaming we shouldn't eat meat blah blah, then your comments would have value. As is....

Yeah Morrisons was the last place i saw them, but not in the last 6 months or so.

Regarding H&B, I didn't even know they sell 'proper' foodstuffs, let alone have a freezer section - thanks!

My sincere apologies if i have offended anyone. I was only trying to start a debate around the ethics of vegitarianism. I have nothing against vegitarians, i have many friends who are so. i just do not understand the reasoning. Maybe there is none. And yes, pandas are still around but if we bred them for food, there would be many more.

For what it's worth mate I agree with you, if we didn't eat them we wouldn't keep them:thumbsup:

To take Kellys example...

Tiger : Meat eater, quite abundant.
Panda : Vegetarian, on the endangered list for years:whistling:
Monkey : Crafty sod that hides in the jungle and is hard to catch, numbers unknown

I'm a vegetarian and I have to say I don't really like the Linda McCartney range of food, nothing against her, god bless her, but her food tastes too much like real meat.. if I wanted to eat something that tasted like meat I would eat meat

Can I just ask you a question that has always puzzled me...

Why do vegetarians buy Quorn? As I understand it, it's supposed to taste and look like chicken. Surely the whole point is to avoid that sort of thing and would tend to indicate that even though you ARE a veggie you still crave meat?

Did you know that according to Wikpedia in the town where they make Quorn they refer to the factory as the Chemical works.. as to your question I guess it is because of the texture and it's ability to absorb different flavours.. quorn on it's on is quite flavourless but it has the abilty to take on the flavours of the food you are cooking it with, much like meat.. yes it does have the texture of chicken but curried or with any other cook in sauce it is quite edible, even for meat eaters
#30
I'm not vegetarian, but do sometimes choose to eat vegetarian dishes, I just go with what I fancy at the time.
#31
Not quite sure about it being edible tbh. I bought quite a lot from Asda a while back and even with curry sauce it's not that nice imho. Sort of like eating cardboard. I do actually like things such as beanfeast, which again is pretty nasty. Wife won't eat it though
#32
Read the Wikipedia entry for Quorn - makes an interesting read.

Indeed.

As it uses egg white as a binder, it is not suitable for vegans.

Wouldn't have even considered that something aimed at vegetarians would do that. Learn something new every day as they say:thumbsup:

Linda McCartney Pies/Lasagna/Sausages

There can't be much of her left.

Good deal. The pies are nice but I can't stand the sausages (I used to live with a vegetarian).
#36

Yup, bit more expensive than the supermarkets, but they have stuff we cant get anywhere else (Linda McCartney sausage rolls, tivall drumsticks, cauldron tomato and lentil pate)

The smaller stores didnt used to have freezers, but now they have mini freezers. All of the stores have fridges.
