Sainsburys Fair Trade bananas 1kg 46p loose

£0.46 @ Sainsbury's
Ok its ten pence more per kg than some deals. But this is Fair Trade and loose so you can get just the amount of Bananas you want. And its still unbelievably cheap, just guilt free.

voted hot because of the fair trade factor.

If I remember correctly, Sainsbury's tends to get their bananas from the Caribbean rather than Central/South America. As such, they're a different variety; a bit sweeter and less woody than many American bananas.

This organic non-sense really annoys me. I'm a chemist and to me organic means containing carbon (and oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and phosphorous). Just look at any organic chemistry laboratory. Alll this rubbish has been introduced to the world by newspapers. Many newspaper journalists find science "too difficult" and report their own spin on it. I also believe there was an investigation headed by Lord Krebs which found that organic offered no additional health benefits compared to "normal" food. If science is reported clearly to members of the public many will understand it and will not find it as difficult as the humanities journalists claim it to be.

Completely true look out for the Caribbean ones (windward islands) they also don't make you feel bloated. I hope your taking notes Tesco.
