I found these bargains in two of the small Sainsburys Local stores yesterday (St John's Road Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough) although a third, much larger local did not have the reductions (Crawley Queensway). It seems the reductions were in the stores that bump the prices up for the honour of being local IYSWIM.

All these products were marked as being SALE items and in both stores, most were close together in the same section.

Sainsburys organic spaghetti in sauce (tin) 13p
Sainsburys tinned chili con carne 35p (was 1.38)
Dynamite chili con carne 41p (was 1.65)
Ovaltine original 46p
Hundreds and thousands 24p
Askey's cornets 24p
Merxchant gourmet jar sun dried tomatoes £1.38 (half price)
Sainsburys basics kidney beans 10p
Heinz macaroni cheese 55p
Heinz pot snack - chicken and vegetable curry 36p
BGTY Tuna fusilli (tin) 38p
BGTY shell bolognaise 38p
Also Baxters and Heinz soups were half price and Heinz tinned spaghetti and curry beans were 75% off

The list above is just off my receipts - there were a lot more ranges reduced.

Nothing was short dated - closest was Oct 09 for the ice cream cones

Well seeing as though it would be a waste of 'my' time to go venturing down, and potentially a bigger bargain for all no. Doesn't harm me asking for a picture that he's already pictured. So I can see if it is store specific or not, as a lot of the time Sainsbury does this with its deals, like if theres a lot of competition in the area from other supermarkets.

I checked with one of the managers and they said the reason these are reduced is that they have been discontinued - this could be store specific, but I did find it in two out of the three that I checked.

Thank you, he means discountinued. So it's likely to be store specific, as different stores have different lines. I will vote hot as it may be missed by people using the same store. Cheers for posting.

Well, the same lines were available in both stores

OP, you should probably get some fruit and veg too! snack food, energy drinks and chilli are probably not a balanced diet! :P

Would advise you all to stay away from the heinz canned food.
They are getting rid of the stock because the cans are rusty inside.
Go buy a vegetable soup and you'll see .

That is funny as hell, and maybe the funniest thing I have read on here. There is no way in a million years that JS would sell something like that. There is a RTS (return to sender )policy with all the main stores and to sell something with rust inside would be retail suicide !

I registered only to inform of this. I got 6 rusty cans from 2 purchases from the same local supermarket. Also got a 100 pound voucher when i complained about it to lure me into not complaining to food standards.
Good luck with your vegetable soup, i hope ur luckier than me. :)
