from saitek site its nano receiver
most specs ignore if its optical/laser (even saitek!) so not sure if longpockets knows from experience or is assuming.
hard to believe its a ball in this day and age though especially with a nano receiver.
(wired version is optical)

The clue is in the word "apparently". I would expect this to be in the specs. Just drawing people's attention to the fact that it is not stated, so may not be optical (or laser). I have been caught out before by assuming that an unspecified feature must be what I hope it is.

edit- anyway, I didn't buy, based on poor description of specs, so if Saitek or dealtastic are listening, you lost a sale.

more than a clue is usually helpful for clarity :)
obviously its strange its not listed in the specs so safer to assume its not optical/laser - seems weird the wired version is optical and the fact it has a nano receiver makes it 'higher spec' than some random ball mouse.
guess buyer beware.

I have never seen a wieless mouse with a ball. that would be very weird

I did a quick Google search. The red one is optical. Looks like the same model but with a different colour.

Thanks Danielj88 for the code and extra info!! Just to add I saw an image of this on google and it shows that under the mouse it can be both optical and have a USB retractable connection. However this might be another mouse altogether so don't take my word for it. Hope this helps. See link below:

"you can even control your computer from the toilet*.

must be a bog standard mouse.
#22
just received these, works great, its optical and as a nice storage bit for the receiver.
#23
Received mine this morning. Really happy with it for the price. Optical and the receiver is tiny.. it only sticks out of my USB port about 5-6mm. Feels nice and solid to hold, not like some other cheapy mice.
