If you haven't fitted it yet, why not return it for a refund? Their conditions give you 30 days to do so:
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/hlp/main.jsp?id=/content/help/sfd/guarantee.html&cm_mmc=Campaign-_-E08W01-_-A-_-Returns&source=aw
Otherwise I sympathise with your predicament but H&R for your HUKD selflessness nifreaky!

Unfortunately I have already fitted the replacement. Done within 30 mins of it arriving as I had been without a working shower for 4-5 days. The replacement has a fitted 13 amp plug which had to be cut off to connect to my existing spur. Otherwise I really would have returned it.

I got the 1.5 bar model from screwfix just before christmas - I can vouch for these models, they are very very quiet compared to our previous showerforce pump.

Shame about the moulded plug, I don't think you should have cut it off, what will you do if it needs to be returned under warranty! You should have swapped the fused spur outlet with a single socket. Good find though.

Yes they are one of the best pumps out there and that is why I went for a direct replacement of my old one.

I think, by law, they now have to be sold with a plug, like all UK electrical items. It shouldn't invalidate a warranty by rempving the plug. If fact when I rang to register the pump for the free 3rd year warranty I told them about the spur and there were no issues.

Ah didn't know that nifreaky, I could have saved myself the trouble of fitting the socket.

What does "Must not be connected to incoming water main" mean? Will get a plumber to fit it when i buy one, but what does that mean?

It means that it should only be connected the cold and hot water storage tanks. Not to the mains water that goes to the kitchen cold tap and the cold water storage. Here is a link to the instructions http://www.salamanderpumps.co.uk/Download/instructions.pdf that has some diagrams that may help you.

Thanks for that, but this type of pump would soon empty my storage tank, would prbably need a larger storage tank:roll:?

aka "power shower". If you just rely on gravity for your shower from the water tank in the loft you only get a dribble, connect a shower pump and it boosts the pressure.
