I wouldn't buy goretex ones as the overheat in summer. Better just getting sealskin waterproof socks. Then you have something all year round.

Not available in app have to add in web and then open in app. Then tells me it OOS. Going to try the shop tomorrow.

If these are the same as the ones sports direct are selling I'd swerve them. Quality is nothing like Salomon have built their brand upon. Seems Mike Ashley is killing yet another quality manufacturer to increase his 6 billion fortune.

Some models aren't displayed instore, and are web only deals - according to an employee I asked. This particular Salomon didn't exist, trip to the store was a waste of time in the end.

I bought the same product from sportsdirect online, and coughed up the delivery fee. Great shoes. Not quite 100% as comfortable as my previous pair of Salomon's, but about 80-90% of the way there.

What nonsense, he has nothing to do with Salomon, they are owned by Amer Sports who also own Wilson and Atomic to name a couple more.
There's nothing wrong with Salomon quality, you just have to pay more for it. I have had a few pairs, and currently wearing a pair of Salomon X Ultra GTX's and they're great. Like Merrell they come up a bit small though.
I wear mine all the time and unlike someone said, I never overheat in summer in my goretex shoes. Perhaps they have very sweaty feet ;)
Voted hot for the saving, but like another has said, I wouldn't buy non waterproof walking shoes anymore

The Salomon shoes for sale in sports direct are not the same quality as the various Salomon shoes and boots I have worn over the last 10 years or so.Just the same as Karrimor their stuff used to be very good but the stuff on sale in sports direct is absolute tosh.
#14
wouldn't but them as I bought salomon speedcross 3 which were ment to be waterproof... after 45mins of walk with my dog my socks were soaking wet as well as shoes! paid £70 for rubbish shoes!

I got my Quest 4D 2 GTX (these names eh?) for £98 from GoOutdoors. Price matched OutdoorGB, who had them for £108. Plus their 10% price match offer, they ended up at under £100 which I was happy with as best price I could find.

oh yes 3 weeks ago i was in the same boat they said they can price match it but they only had the grey colour but i wanted igauna ,looking back i should of clinched them

how are you finding them? they seem very stiff at first but should losen up and give great ankle protection
#17
They are a proper boot, and no mistake. But, I have found them very comfy from the off, with no real feel of restriction when walking in them. If I was you, I'd just get them in the black, as once they're covered in mud, the colour really doesn't matter ;)

Only issues I have had is laces are oddly slippy, but as they have the lace cinch eyelet things on them, they never come undone fully. I imagine this issue will lessen the more they're used.

No they're NOT meant to be waterproof, hence why you got wet feet: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/salomon-speedcross-3-trail-running-shoes-p187851
The Speedcross 3 GTX are waterproof, the GTX standing for Goretex ;)http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/salomon-speedcross-3-gtx-mens-trail-shoe-p350643

Just avoid the ones that are also available in SportsDirect (that's the hint that they aren't good)!

So you're saying there is a division of Salomon making inferior versions of their popular shoes, just to be sold in SD and Field & Trek?
#21
Had a pair of these (2015 model) and the also mid-boot version of them too (bought them at the same time). They were waterproof for 3 or 4 months, now they let water through just walking through long wet grass. I have other Salomon walking boots and they are far better quality. This is a great price for them but don't expect them to stay waterproof, I Suspect there is something wrong with this model (which to be fair they may have fixed).

Edit - just noticed these are the non goretex versions (I had the GTX variant) so, ignore waterproof comments - but avoid the goretex version!

Either that or they're making a budget range,if these either the ones for sale in sports direct they are inferior to Salomons usual standard . They've done it with plenty of other brands .

They've done it with plenty of other brands .

They haven't, tho. What Sports Direct have done is bought the licensing to several brands, or sometimes bought the companies outright, and then made cheaper versions.

As stated above, Salomon is not owned by Sports Direct/Mike Ashley. Whereas the following are:

Airwalk
British Knights
Campri
Carlton
Donnay
Dunlop
Everlast
Firetrap
Gelert
GoldDigga
Hot Tuna Clothing
Kangol
Karrimor
LA Gear
Lonsdale
Miss Fiori
Muddyfox
Nevica
No Fear (outside North America)
Slazenger
Sondico
SoulCal
USA Pro
Voodoo Dolls

- Sauce

You're telling me that these are usual standard for Salomon and worth the best part of £100 https://s24.postimg.org/nw2xu00k5/IMG_20170101_194315.jpg

Interesting.

That is a Salomon Conquest GTX, a design from 2013/14. To be honest, from the pic it looks exactly the same as when they were being sold back then:

Looks like SD have bought up a load of old stock on the cheap.

If that is the case then there's no wonder that plenty of stock is left
I fear a drop in standard, the stock in Wynsors is'nt up to scratch either. Maybe Its me but I've bought plenty of Salomon gear over the years but lately I'm losing confidence in it . I bought a windproof jacket recently again at a reduced price from CRC and again the quality isn't up to what it was.

I can only comment on what I have bought recently, but the X Ultra 2 GTX mids and Quest 2 4D GTX I got from GoOutdoors have been spot on, as were the XA Pros I got from Wiggle.

Maybe every now and again Salomon make some subpar stuff, it doesn't sell, and the likes of SD buy it all up years later and sell it on.

All that aside, £45 for a pair of XA Pros is a good deal, as it's a tried and tested model which goes for £60+ in most places. As it goes, I'd rather spend £60 and shop elsewhere than give Mike Ashely any money.

I'd rather walk in bare feet than give any money to Mike Ashley :)

Just for reference. I received my shoes today and all is in order. I personally haven't had a problem with Field & Trek online purchases.

I did read some of the 1 star reviews in the links you posted and I have to say, quite a few were for daft reasons and really not warranted. I can't speak for their customers service department as I've haven't had the need to use them.
