I've had one of these for over a year and they are great. Especially now that they are at half the price I bought mine for!

Just one word of caution from another buyer. You may need an a hard flat floor, without any compression or give in the surface, in order for the measurements to be accurate. That basically means a wooden or tiled floor. Even lino floors will not do. This is the advice I got from someone else and hence use mine on a wooden floor. Best to do your own research online.

These scales are still an excellent buy. Thanks OP! Heat added.

I was considering these scales but im not convinced the body fat, water and muscle are going to be correct? Any body seen evidence of their accuracy ? Although the prime price seems quite reasonable for the basic weighing and bmi stuff anyhow.

If you read the sales pitch you will see this;-

How does this Salter scale work?

This Salter scale uses BIA (Bio Impedance Analysis) technology which passes a tiny electrical impulse through the body to determine fat from lean tissue, the electrical impulse cannot be felt and is perfectly safe. Contact with the body is made via stainless steel pads on the platform of the scale (or an almost invisible ITO coating on the surface of the glass*).This method simultaneously calculates your personal weight, BMI, body fat, total body water and muscle mass, giving you a more accurate reading of your overall health and fitness.

These are good scales, at least in terms of accurate measurement. Its also good at weighing parcels on!, even small ones, it picks them up fine. Downside, for me anyway, is the feet snap easily. Not from normal use, but from moving it around..etc.

Bought another scales (more expensive) and the damn thing doesn't pick up light weight items when sending parcels out. Annoying, but yea, i know its not made for that.

I've got one like this since two years. Compared how it works with professional scales at work and the reading is really reliable as long as you keep the scale on the solid flat surface such as bathroom tiles on the floor. Also battery lasts for ages.

I hope someone find it useful.
Definitely worth the money.

At this price, buy two. One to take the measurement and the other to ensure the measurement is correct.

Thankyou ;) I understand the principle but was more concerned if it actually worked. I have a couple of hand held Fat analysis gadgets already that dont seem correct.

The electrical impulse resistance method is very accurate. I've used it in the food industry to accurately read fat connect in mince beef for legal compliance and labelling purposes. The principle is the same.
