why is this deal cold??
#2
maybe because it was listed here just over a week ago: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/425058/samsung-ecogreen-f2-1-5tb-hard-driv/

either way, it deserves to be relisted as a reminder, hot from me

It went OOS, I tried to get one a week or so ago with no joy. Hot from me.

Got mine from Scan.co.uk yesterday for the same price with free delivery (using Avforum discount) and its arriving today. Dont have to wait 5 days for it!!
#5
The Scan £78.19 offer is back on via "Today Only" - but only really for those that can qualify for free delivery. For the rest of us the £6.99 delivery charge from Scan make eBuyer a better bet.

I'll wait for the 2tb to start dropping in price.
I use a DROBO with four 1tb drives in it.
Little or no benefit adding 1.5tb drives, but major gains from 2tb.
Prices on 2tb drives are still high, so finding major reductions on those makes more sense than incremental gains from 1.5tb devices.

Cheaper @ Scan Today Only, £78.19

Got mine from Scan on Tuesday £78.19 with Free 45cm SATA cable :-D installed in Home Server using Force 150 jumper (SATA 1) no problems

How did you do that? I had to use software to force my 1Tb drive to go 150 :(

price per GB is great
79.99 / 1500gb = 0.0533266667p...about 1gb for 5p!

Ah another person besides me who follows price per gig. We have seen 1TB for £50 previously but this is also excellent price per gig.

I remember following price per meg.... now I feel old....

5400 rpm....

shuttsies
5400 rpm....

If you could explain to me why that is a bad thing or how it suddenly makes this deal cold then i'll give you a cookie. If you're just quoting random numbers that you think are significant then please stop, we see it every single time a hard drive thread comes up and the outcome is always the same.

That means the disk spins slower so it will load/save data slower. This is an "eco green" drive so I assume this means it uses less power.

This seems like an ideal second drive for use as storage but not holding hight performance apps.

can anyone advise me if this drive would be a good choice for the popcorn hour A110 ? as im considering buying both and im not sure what max the A110 can accommodate?
also is this not the same drive that scan are selling , not that it makes it cold im just making sure i got the info right.

I have the popcorn a110 currently but have never put a drive in it, but now want to upgrage and use it to its full capacity.

About time Samsung released the UJ version of this size.

I know it means the disk spins slower but it doesn't necessarily mean that the drive is slow. There are various different things that contribute towards drive speed. In benchmarks there isn't a great deal of performance difference between these and the 7200 RPM F1 drives. The F1s are slightly faster with slightly higher power requirements.

My point was that the disk speed is an insignificant and unimportant figure. It'll still outperform any (non-Raptor) drive from a couple of years ago, even if it is a 7200 RPM model.

PCH A110 can accept max 1.5TB, so this is your best bet. I've heard many people use this combination recently with the A110 and are very happy. It is the same drive Scan are selling.
