Looking for a few TB of backup storage and this seems like a really good price for a nice drive.

"The Story Station from Samsung is a solid, reliable data storage to store your precious memories. The Story safely downloads and protects your lifetime memories video clips, photos, music files, and important data that are so valuable and not easily replaced.

The Samsung Story Station is the best storage solution to capture and preserve your life story and minimalism is the design concept of the Story Station. Every element, the finely brushed metal finish, simple jog dial, and red belted cable outlets underscores the sleek and refined style. The sharp contrast of gray and red is eye-catching and the solid, simple cover creates timeless beauty.

The simple but classical jog dial functions as a power switch and reflecting LED light, hidden on the bottom, softly displays power on/off status.

The Story Station is built to store your valuable data safely and keep it backed up using the Samsung Auto Backup and SafetyKey features. Moreover, you can protect private and confidential files and folders in the virtual drive, SecretZone, with complete confidence.

Samsungs environment friendly product supports Power Saving Mode, which saves power by automatically going into standby mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. The Story Stations heat dissipating design, the ventilation and the aluminum cover prevents heat buildup and keeps the drive inside cool.

Simply plug it in and go. No CD is needed for installation and you can see at a glance how much space is available, used, or designated as backup storage."

Just bought one of these off CDiscount ... great drive

Some may find this information useful.
Inside there is Samsung's EcoGreen F2 drive 5400rpm with 32MB cache, low power consumption and cool running but not great performer, definitely slower then standard drives with 7200rpm.

Internal EcoGreen disks are being sold for around £70 for 1.5T

This is an awesome drive. Only downside is that the rounded design to the top case means they do not stack on top of each other.

Actually the F2s are now under £70.

Thanks for that I was just about to order a couple but fitting into a confined area is part of my criteria. I may have to go for some that can be mounted vertically.

Its a good price for sure but samsung - I have had horrific reliability problems with Samsung drives so would not buy another one. Western Digital for me all the way.

Nice drive - just ordered one. I always use samsung drives now ... nothing but problems in the past with seagate. heat and rep added

Doubt it'll make much difference for transferring data from a drive like this, but you can just get a new enclosure in two years when USB 3.0 starts to make inroads into the market.

Exactly. We're talking years. And USB 3.0 obviously won't be any faster for external hard drives than eSATA which we have already.

ive not had any luck finding the same drive elsewhere for cheaper. play.com has at 89.99

I bought one of these recently, I was only interested in the drive though so I quickly dismantled it. There's two warranty stickers inside, make sure you wedge a flat headed screwdriver in at either end (to reveal clips) before trying to pull the plastic cover off otherwise you'll get nowhere fast.

why would u buy an external hard drive and use it as internal, would not it be cheaper and easier to just buy a 1.5tb internal one? e.g. this one http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/474383/western-digital-caviar-green-power-/ or a samsung 1.5tb EcoGreen F2 which is the same drive inside the story station

It was cheaper to buy this and dismantle it, a one off though not something I could buy again at that price. I got a free enclosure out of the deal too.
