My wife works for the DWP and they have a great discount site, DWP discounts.
More info here
If you know somebody that works there, it might even be other Govt departments too, you can use their discount.

I'm looking for a new laptop, was considering the Dell studio 15. Samsung laptops reliable?

ive forgotton my pin on my cc so just gonna buy it online with free delivery.

This is a great spec, aside the graphics card byt at the end of the day i use my xbox for gaming and not my pc, which i use for browsing, and working so i guess its not gonna effect me that much. This is a fantastic machine at this price approx £340 after quidco
#22
not bad specs, and samsund laptops aare generally quite nicely made

Didn't the Gadget Show review this one a while ago and it came out top? Question is, is this the best overall laptop available for £350 'with discount code' at the moment?
#26
Nice price....heat added.

Bit more spec: www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Samsung_R5119_Laptop_NP-R519-FA02UK/version.asp

If this had HDMI it would be a real bargain. If that's not important it's well worth considering.

Can you use quidco with the DWP scheme ? - don't you have to follow the link from the web page and hence use their referral details rather than quidcos?
#29
delivery is coming up xtra, how can i use the 5% code and free delivery/collection?

you need to choose the 'collect from store' option, after inputting your postcode you have the option of selecting the nearest store, IF they have it in stock.

If they do have it in stock, print off the reservation no. and it states the discounted price which the store honours.

Samsungs as a brand are great laptops. I've bought and supplied around 70 during 2008/09 (R510, R519, R520, R719, R720s and Q70s) and have only had one back - with bad sectors on a hard drive. It was picked up by courier next day for Hard Drive replacement and it was back with me within 72 hours.

Yes you can use Quidco with the DWP, you dont have to use a referral link.
Just go through Quidco as usual, put the lappy in your basket then put the code in, total should be £350.55, then reserve it for collection.
Then just go to the DWP site and pay with your card (tell them the total is £350.55, you can do it online or over the phone) and they automatically take 10% off, so you pay £315. They send you an instant text message which you take to Comet with your reservation number.
Take off Quidco, comes to about £305 total. Job done.

I gave this heat yesterday when I first saw it and rep added today - I now decided to buy it as its in my price range and seems about best about. But every time I go for collect from store my local comet is always out of stock. One wonders if they actually do have anything in stock there. Grrr, hate having to go to out of town shopping centres.

So anyway, before committing I'm gonna have a look around for something more local, but I would recommend this to some1 who can get it locally.
#34
it says dual core, so i take it as not being a core 2 duo, but on older pentium dual core?????
#35
I have a R522, which is very similar to this. Few things i dont like:

- It gets a little warm after few hrs of use. Mine is Core2Duo, so i would expect a PDC processor to be either the same or a little worse. This wasn't the case with my old HP.
- TBH i found the screen/overall size to be a little too big in terms of portability. So buy it if you wanna use it mostly at home.
- For some weird reason the powercable insert is on the left side rather than being at the rear. This makes it a little awkward when using on your 'lap'.
- Lack of controls/buttons on the keyboard (sound, Wirless etc)

Also this was my first samsung and to my surprise the Samsung customer service is pretty bad.

Hope this helps.

i got a call from the store this morning asking if i want all 5 i reserved....ooops! sorry sir i bought this online in the end, delivered for free on 6th Jan but then that gives me time to cancel just in case i see something cheaper or a 10% code arrives. Oh and the 5 on reserve have now been taken off reserve.

if you looking for a portable laptop try a netbook, this is 15" screen, 15" have never been portable.

- For some weird reason the powercable insert is on the left side rather than being at the rear. This makes it a little awkward when using on your 'lap'. My Acer netbooks on the left, perfectly fine, horses for courses not a criticisim of the laptop.
- Lack of controls/buttons on the keyboard (sound, Wirless etc) some people prefer just a basic keyboard that having too many buttons scattered all over that you hardly use.

Also this was my first samsung and to my surprise the Samsung customer service is pretty bad.

you live & learn hey

Hope this helps.
yes thanks you

I have £100 Love2Shop vouchers so can get this for £270 but obviously need to get it instore to use the vouchers.

How do i apply the REVIEW5 discount code? I can`t see an option to do this on the reserve for pick up page.

Any ideas guys?
