It's a Spinpoint F3, so that's a pretty good deal.

Great price. Hot.

Actually, only thing that concerns me is the lack of warranty information.
For that price, I'd expect it to be OEM/grey import, which means Samsung may not touch it if it fails.

With places like Scan/Novatech/Ebuyer etc, they give you their own 3 year warranty.
PC World don't mention it at all, which is a bit odd.

Just a note they have 2TB SEAGATE (ST32000542AS) 3.5" SATA Hard Drive - 2TB
for £55 which is a decent price for those. Amazon have them at £70

2TB Seagate

How do pcworld deliver? royal mail or courier?
#6
no idea how they deliver just that i says delivery time 3-5 working days

It's a good deal but sheer hatred prevents me buying anything from PC World, I'd sooner pay more elsewhere.

Exactly my sentiment. Would love to know your stopry behind it.

Im sure they are ok if buying one thing, its just the additional items they try to force on people. Its the less techincally minded they prey on and make huge ammounts of money on.

They dont know any different so think they are getting a good deal, or need Norton for £60, which they dont mention is for one year.

Pricey World: I try avoid buying stuff from this place but only if necessary as a last resort or just browsing only.

Price is pretty good but the warranty I beg to differ.

If any sales person tells me that I need this & that for a little extra after only I went in & want to buy what I only wanted in the first place then I will ask for it. If I needed some help then I will ask for it in the first place & not to be pestered & followed around like some loss puppy finding his owner.

When you get the item do you mind coming back and letting us know if it was delivered by royal mail or a courier?
#14
That hurt. Voted hot on a PcWorld 'offer'. Usually they are a robbing shower of ............
#15

#16

And check the warranty on the Samsung site and let us know what they say? (although I think we all know what the answer will be).

Just received an email telling me it has been dispatched with Royal Mail

I bought this from Dixons on Sunday Night same drive same price, it arrived today by royal mail and when I opened it they have sent a Hitachi hard drive, called the customer services and they said they send out what stock they have and would not guarantee they would be able to replace for the samsung. I pointed out it states on the site you will receive the samsung hard drive and they said it was an error and they will only guarantee you will receive the same spec drive.
So back it goes tomorrow at their cost by DHL
I think I will pay a few pounds more and buy from ebuyer at least I know they will send the drive you buy.
#23
Regarding the warranty on these drives - I purchased one from Scan in January and another one from Scan this week and both of them have a 3-year warranty direct with Samsung according to the Samsung warranty checker. So, I think it's the luck of the draw as to whether you get a Samsung warranty or not.

Received mine this morning. Samsung HD103UJ. Is there much difference between this and the hd103SJ?
#25
The HD103UJ is a Spinpoint F1 whereas the HD103SJ is the Spinpoint F3.

The F1 is an older generation drive than the F3. The F1 has 3x333GB platters as opposed to the F3 having 2x500GB platters. The F3 has a slightly lower power consumption and benchmarks slightly faster than the F1.

recieved a hitachi, and after checking the serial on the the hitachi website theres no warrenty....poor

edit:

i called into my local store and they exchanged it for a HD103SJ at no extra cost....instore the hitachi and the samsung are the same price so there was no problem.... the samsung came in the retail box that says 3 years warrenty on the front.....SWEET!

This needs to be expired. Also got a hitachi in the post. Called into my local(ish) store where the rudest nothern 'customer service' woman initially refused to even accept they'd messed up. They would not honour a direct exchange for the samsung drive instead insisted I pay the difference. In the end I accepted a refund. Typically poor sevice from an awful company
#29
Has anyone else recieved a different item to that advertised?
#30
I received a Hitachi as well, completely missed the big sticker on the top of the box so only saw the label on the anti-static bag and opened it to make sure it wasn't a misprint. Not impressed. I checked the order & shipping confirmation emails and both only described it as a 1Tb drive, no mention of Samsung or HD103SJ. So I took it to the local store to exchange and after a good half hour of faffing, computer tapping and phone calls, I eventually got it swapped for the HD103SJ :) He did try to get me to pay some of the difference in price (it's £55 in store) claiming the one I'd picked up wasn't the same model, but I'd printed a screenshot of the website and pointed out the text, so he then put it through.

It's a good price but feel the same. They ripped my nan off £500 for a second hand computer that still had previous users on it. She was told it was new! Similar setup in tesco atleast £200 cheaper and untouched!
