The overdrive is interesting, but otherwise it looks like the other £130 monitor deals that are regulaly posted. Warmish.
#3
Hot. Good price for a top brand and model.
#5

I believe that's the same item mate, so the insight one is significantly cheaper.
#6
same monitor, insight have the wrong image. Click on 'view larger image' on their site and you will see the correct image.

Has anyone used this 'INSIGHT'website to purchase before.

Play.com price = £149.99 .

£5 off £50 at PLAY.COM = £144.99 - Promotional Code: VTWMDLHGPQ - Expiry: 22/09/2008
4% Quidco = -£5.79

Final Play.com price = £139.20 (just 27p more than this deal)

Another route to get above monitor if you want.

Insight have been around for years

PoisonJam
Hot. Good price for a top brand and model.

It's hardly a top model, at this price I wouldn't be surprised if it was samsung's absolutely lowest 22" model (they've got loads of 22" screens for some reason).

Narkodrom
hot.

There were a couple a few months ago like the Belinea 24" at oyyy and the Yuraku MVA but I haven't seen any recently.

Is it 2ms or 5ms? titles different.

It is the other way, Insight get a lot of their kit from IBM or rather Lenovo in China now! Insight is a very reputable long established dealer. But be wary of usual sales tactics when you telephone to make an order, the same tactic as anywhere else, they ask you if you want to consider other great deals etc.. to save delivery.. great bargains etc., if you don't buy now you cannot buy later....they are not the sort hot deals that the people on HOTUK deals would find a bargain.

Hi Folks

How does this offer compare with this which is less?

I posted this when I found it on Play.com a couple of months back for £138...Unfortunately I also bought it from play, this monitor is dreadful
!!!

All of the colours appear luminous, when you first plug it to your PC you'll be blinded by the bright blue default, I thne played with it but couldn't improve it much so I rang samsung, they said I had to install the Magic tune software that comes with it...but I already had but it doesn't work with Vista...!!!

I rang play.com but they said as it's not faulty I could return it but would have to pay the courier costs to send it to them and also lose £18 for their postage costs....in the end I sold it on ebay and made a profit so not really to cheesed off...

Morale - Don't buy if you have Vista...Do buy if you want to re-sell on eBay

It says 2ms on the monitor itself and also 8000:1 contrast ratio....

This is **** !!!

Plus most people want black surrounds nowadays...if you look at novatech they had a generic novatech (viewsonic) 22" monitor for £99 with free delivery....Personally I'd prefer to pay a little extra for something branded and decent responce times.....

Another thing I'd like to point out though, is the viewing angle is quite poor on this monitor (170º horizontal / 160º vertical). The 2232BW is 170º horiztonal/vertical and even that I find quite poor (I have to move it from my desk to my case if I want to watch movies in bed!)

You're going to get that on any 22" under £300 though so you just have to live with it unless you want to spend a lot more. The poor vertical viewing angles also mean that the top and bottom of the screen are a different colour to each other so it's not ideal for any colour sensitive work. At £130 you know you're not going to get perfection anyway, it's usually on the more pretentious screens that this becomes an issue.

5ms. But Samsung have a technology called RTA (response time acceleration), which is probably like Dynamic Contrast Ratio where they can throw in any number that sounds good.

Well, unlike dynamic contrast the RTA technology (Also known as RTC, Overdrive, AMA and other things) does improve the genuine response time. However, like dynamic contrast two screens with the same number may not be comparable and nothing tells you whether it's well set up or not which is critical to both technologies. (A badly set up dynamic contrast will result in noticible brightness shifts, a badly set up RTA will result in reservse ghosting or haloing).

Someone mentioned the play.com link to the same item. It doesnt seem to explicitly mention a 3 year warranty on that one. So I think I'll go for the Insight version.

BTW, If I get a dead pixel, is it easier to return item to play.com or insight (or will neither accept this return)??

And also if I want to claim warranty in the future, does Insight make it easy for you??

Thanks!
#23
Insight t&c acknowledge personal customers for dst 7 day returns, but if you purchase them as a business the rules are different. With insight after 30 days if the product goes wrong you have to go to Samsung maybe similar with Play.com
#24
Will insight accept returns if "I dont like the item anymore" ??

I didn't literally mean their best model at any price
#26

if you've heard of distant selling rules then you'll know
#28
I think my local Tesco Extra had these for a similar price. Might be worth investigating if you are after one of these.
#29
ive read some good reviews for this today, every one saying its a great monitor.

Ive also checked around the web, no cheaper price currently available. Ive ordered mine.

You can only sell it if it's metric.

I bought a Fujitsu 22" from them a few weeks back, started to buzz! I emailed Insight, they gave me a number to call for Fujitsu. I called them about 10 in the morning and they called me back a couple of hours later to arrange delivery of a replacement, which I got at about 10 the following morning. So for me I had no problem with Insight or for that matter Fujitsu.
